Hi! I just joined this team since I love skating so much. I've always skated on quads - never tried inlines before. I used to skate at the rink all the time when I was a kid, then skated outdoors mostly until I had my son.

I stopped skating for 3 years and then recently took my son skating for the first time - gotta teach him young! I remembered how much I LOVE skating so now I've been going every weekend with him. Then I decided to get even more skating in and become a better skater, I'd go to weekly newbie night practice with the local Derby Team.

LOVE IT! I've been twice and I'm going to keep going!

I'm not sure I will ever try out for the Women's Derby Team as it is a BIG commitment, but I do want to skate and love the practices for now.

I just got in the Roller Derby Workout last night... Has anyone used it? A couple of my friends who were trying out used it for conditioning. I've really been sticking to DVDs lately, so I thought I'd give it a shot...

I've been using the 30 Day Shred too. It's easy for me to convince myself to do it when the workouts are something I can do in 30 minutes and still get in more exercises and stretching. It's mostly compound movements for strength training followed by cardio and abs in a circuit. She does a warm up, three groups of exercises and then a quick cool down.

I'd heard a bunch about it but then my friend O who is into karate recommended it and my friend M who just works out in her living room told me that she also used it. I knew if O liked it, it was tough, but if M also liked it, it couldn't be terrifying.

I downloaded the Turbo Jam fat blaster video and I love it! its kickboxing plus dance...it can be hard at first if you're uncoordinated like me, but I just did the general gist of the moves til I got them down...I actually enjoy the workout so much I think Im gonna go ahead and do my 3 easy payments of just $19.95 so I can get those weighted gloves and the other 4 workouts...

Hey ladies!

I also have the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred! I really like her approach with working out in intervals. I have such a hard time sticking with stuff! I'll do it for a couple weeks, get out of my routine, and then never really back on it.

I've been a member of Weight Watchers for years! I was successful several years back and lost almost 30lbs. I was happy and got content and never reached my goal. I started going to meetings thru WW @ work last year and continued once our work program continued. I had dropped 13 lbs and was starting to feel pretty awesome. I was even trying to jam a little. But as usual I get off track & never get back on!

Now, I need to strengthen up, get my knee better, and drop this freakin weight for good!

Please help me figure out this site!

Thanks!

Pinky

What's up derby demons?

So last Sept when I found out I was preggo I had actually been successfully losing weight. Had dropped down to 170 by tracking my food & trying to do something to break a sweat every day.

Now, after 9 months of weight gain (47 lbs to be exact) and the birth of Triton I've gotten back to 188. I need to get back on track literally & figuratively. My goal is the same as my goal from last August/September - 150. Hopefully this will help me keep focused!

Thanks Auntie!

I was hard work changing my eating habits, but it really is key.

Yes! Get the Jillian DVDs. She also has a book out that my best friend found very inspirational. I like Jillian because she is real and HOT! She used to be plus size also.

p90x is great to, just not the thing I would recommend starting with.....

just like derby, you need your basic skills before you can play the game.

Congrats to you and Star on your weight loss.

I'm only weighing in once a week because I fluctuate a lot from day to day.

OOh, I've been curious about the Jillian Michaels stuff, so I think I'll go ahead and get the DVDs now. Her website is unbelievably...honest? It just seems less gimmicky than other workout/fitness routines on the market.

Also- Kat, your before and after pictures are unbelievable! I've really NEVER been at a healthy weight, so it's hard for me to envision what I'd actually look like if I dropped the pounds. TOTALLY inspirational.

It is pretty hardcore and when I first did it, I couldn't finish most of the videos. Just do what you can and take breaks if you need them and in time you will be able to finish the whole video.

I would start with Jillian Michaels 30 day shred...it's awesome. You can borrow it if you like or if you have comcast cable it is in the On Demand section.

Dude, I saw your before and after photos on myspace... that's so awesome! You should let us know how the P90X stuff is going... I downloaded it from Demonoid but I heard it's pretty hardcore, so who knows if I'll actually be able to do it!

Ok kiddies, a long time ago in a far away land called Detroit, Kat used to weight 180 lbs and was a blocker.

Kat came out of retirement and lost 50 lbs and became a jammer.

Kat slacked off and has gained 12 or 13 lbs and she would like to lose that again!
