i've just joined on the recommendation of a woman iat my gym, who lost 100 pounds thanks to sparkpeople. i'm finding it all very confusing at first glance. here's my situation: i have been exercising hard and dieting haphazardly since september of 2007. since then, i have lost just 15 pounds. i now work out three times a week (cardio and weights for about 1-1/2 hours each time). i have a thyroid deficiency and am talking a pill for this every morning. it is supposed to boost my metabolism, but doesn't seem to do much. the kicker: i am a food writer for a major newspaper and a cookbook author. when i am not cooking, i am writing about food or reading about food. i do have to taste, and it all adds up. i was not always overweight, though i had never been thin. i am a mesomorph gone wrong. i like to exercise and move my body. the weight kept accumulating each time i quit smoking (i finally succeeded 10 years ago) and after each of my pregnancies. i think i have an emotional issue that is hurting my attempts to control my eating, but i don't know what it is. i am not a social person or a joiner, but i do need help.
