Thanks so much. You have been a big help. I know as long as I have people like you to talk to that I will be able to keep motivated. I am going to start back at Curves tonight and I have only had one soda today.

Anything you need advise with please ask, I certainly don't mind. I've yo-yo dieted my whole life. My story is on my Spark Page if you would like to visit it.... just clik on my profile pic or on my SparkPage.

Also have a peak in my photo gallery, I'm quite proud of some of my pics there, especially the one I had taken when I reached my 50 lbs gone goal ! You might be surprised when you see it emoticon emoticon emoticon

That is great. I only hope I can keep my motivation up like your son did. I am sure that you coaching him is really helping. It helps to have someone on your side. My mother-in-law is great to help me but she is overweight too and falls off the wagon (usually at the same time as me) so it doesnt help too much. She can tell me what to eat and stuff but it is hard to follow. I am keeping it from my family for a little bit that I am trying to lose weight to see if I can do it. I have told them before that I was going to but I keep losing hope and stopping and figure I will just be fat. I want them to notice a difference in me first and then I will tell them what I have been doing. It is great to talk to someone on here who can coach their own child though. Thanks for all the advice. I am going to put it to good use. Next chore is the grocery shopping.

Men do drop their weight quickly.

His first night on the program I set up for him he phoned me from work (he works the night shift) "Mom I'm starving" I told him to snack on raw veggies, his yogurt, keep drinking water. He made it through his first night.

So I asked him about his headaches as there will be withdrawal from stopping the soda and he had them, completely gone after week one, someone had told me it would take 2 weeks, so I was pleased. I do ask how he's feeling and so far he feels great.

I did let him weigh himself every day just to keep him motivated as he saw the weight drop off, then I told him to stay off the scale and only look once a week.

Being a scale jumper every day can be destructive to your weight loss.... so in 10 days he had lost 12 lbs, the next week was 5 lbs, we were both well satisfied with his loss.

His g/f started almost a week later and she is down 5 lbs, but she is a coffee drinker, puts in a large coffee - triple, triple.... so her first week I had her cut back to - double, double, and this week it's supposed to be - single, single, hopefully I can get her down to none, or even green tea which is so much better.

Thanks for the advice. That is amazing that your son dropped weight that quickly. I dont always eat healthy and I know when I stop drinking soda I will do better at weight loss. It seems some men can drop pounds easier than women so that is an extra challenge for women. I appreciate the advice.

Hello there, so many people have the same problem with losing weight "dieting".

Sparks helps you to stop dieting and start to creat a lifestyle change to a healthier you. Once you change to healthy habits the weight will follow.

There is a nutrition tracker that you can use to help you with your daily food choices. The is also an exercise tracker to help you keep track of your cardio and strength and show you how many calories you have burned.

My son who is 28, has always been a junk food, soda pop drinker. He finally asked me to help him. The first thing I told him was no pop or juice whatsoever, and he is now drinking water faithfully, eating healthier and I'm proud to say in 17 days he dropped 17 lbs.

Now I never dropped weight that fast cause I have always eaten healthy, but stopped drinking soda many years ago, and stopped drinking juices a couple of years ago.

I'm not trying to change what you are doing, however I have always lived by the rule if what you are doing isn't working, then be willing to change.

We are here to give you a hand with your program, so please ask. You will find a few of us on our Chat thread on our home page, hope to see you there. If not you can always Spark Mail me and I'll help you any way I can.

I am 26 years old and the mother of 2 beautiful children. I am trying to lose weight to feel better physically and to feel better about myself. I have stuggled with weight gain for about 6 years and have tried tons of fad diets. Dieting is not a good thing for me because I find I can not stick to it. I have a problem with drinking soda so that is my first goal is to limit how much of that I drink until I can be down to none. I am open minded and will take advice from anyone who has constructive advice. I want to meet someone on the forums that will be willing to be my friend and confidant in our weight loss stuggle. I have the support of my family but I feel when I tell them my goals and then dont reach them they are disappointed so I need some extra support. Thanks for all the help. Sparkpeople is a great site.
