Hi....from the Minnesota River Valley area.... it's 'cold'...and dreary, and snow is predicted tomorrow! Yikes!
I'm also rising up from a valley of sorts...my husband died a year ago, unexpectedly, very unexpectedly; yes, death is part of the life process, but sometimes life changes a bit too fast, and kind of takes our breath away and knocks us for a loop!.
After his death, I lost 15 pounds fast; didn't feel like eating; but that changed during the winter; and I gained 20 pounds... I have been sluggish... physically and emotionally.
Now it's another fall; I may be starting a 'new' part time position soon, and I have mixed feelings about this, excited, nervous, anxious, but feel this may be a good thing. Much better than lying around feeling down and alone; and I feel it's time to 'do' something again.
I also really really want to get in shape; cholestral is up; bp is up but my MD is giving me six months to lose weight, get some core strength before he prescribes pills; he knows I tend to NOT like any sort of pill or supplement. So..I'm here...my sister's workplace got their employees on this site...thank you to those at DACC down in Ankeny,IA.....I've been reading the e-mails for awhile now and they are motivating, so here I am..

Just started a new year, birthday wise...and am ready to go..heading to snap fitness in about 20 minutes..and we are off!
oh..some personal stuff... Yes, I'm in my 60's, was a librarian, then an ordained pastor... well, still am that! and still love libraries and reading all kinds of books. spent most of my ministry as a chaplain in nursing homes and hospitals throughout the Midwest. And as I said my husband died last Sept,; we had no children. Well, we married in our late 50's...as some said we experienced that lovely 'old' love that just came along in our lives when we really weren't even looking. We both loved theatre, were stay at home types, loved weekend getaways to small towns to explore & enjoy various local community theatres; and art museums and parks and flowers. I still attend theatre productions, colleges, community, and at times in the 'big' city..those lavish productions at the Orpheum and Ordway in Mpls, St Paul and have journeyed to DesMoines to enjoy the Iowa Repertory Productions; I garden a bit, I read a lot, I walk in small local parks. We also had cats; nowadays Boris and TC still keep me company, and at times drive me a bit crazy. When I read they want to sit on the book or sit on my lap and nudge the book; they sit on me early a.m. when they think it's time for me to get up to feed them; they drag cat toys all over the house if I'm gone from home too long; but they are here waiting in the hall whenever I do come home. That is nice.

Now that's more than enough as an intro....have a joyful day despite the grayness outside..
