It's raining some today and are supposed to have a little snow tonight or in the morning. Not much to speak of. Next weekend will be like Spring.

I've lived in New England my whole life (minus 3 years in PA). The 1995-1996 winter was a real bad one, I believe that winter holds the record for most snowfall. But this one's definitely pretty bad - and we still have two months to go!

Definitely been plenty of opportunity for some outdoor exercise this winter here in CT!!! I've only lived her for 13 years so I have never seen anything like it.

I live in CT and work in MA. My husband and I just bought a home in November. I don't know about you, but all the snow we've had this winter so far has been a great excuse to get some exercise! We have a large driveway, and no snow blower. Needless to say, he and I have put a lot of elbow (and back) grease into keeping it clear after every storm!

Anytime you need support, even if it's just someone to vent about all this snow, feel free to send me a message. I'm always glad to help out a local!

Hi Erin. I live just south of you in Rhode Island. It is hard when you don't get a lot of support, but it sounds like you have been good about staying on track. Get your sparkpage done and then track your food and exercise and you will be right back on track. Good luck!

Hi, everyone!

So, I finally am taking the plunge and trying to lose weight in a healthy manner. I have tried over and over for the last 5+ years, joined and left other weight loss groups, and just in general made myself feel like a failure.

The biggest issue that I have had is the fact that I wasn't getting a whole lot of support. My mother (who lives 13 hours away) and my sister (who lives 7 hours away) have always been wonderful about cheering me on. My husband, bless him, doesn't think I need to change and doesn't see that my weight has become unhealthy. My friends all point out that I don't "look like I need to lose weight". It took my doctor telling me that it is quite possible that my weight is impacting my ability to carry a child to really get me to reevaluate my goals.

I want to be an active mom who is playing with her kids. I want to have enough energy to keep up with an energetic child. I want to make sure that my cooking habits are healthy so I pass on good practices to any child that grows up in our home. Also, I want to feel good when I stand up to do my job... I'm a music teacher and choral director. But most of all, I want to learn to take better care of myself so I can take better care of those around me.

In October I started this journey on my own watching portion sizes and walking every day. By December I had lost 12 lbs. and was beginning to think that this time I was going to pull it off. Then the holidays hit, and my husband and I bought a home, and I slacked off, and my friends told me I didn't need to lose weight, etc.. I put on 2 lbs., gritted my teeth, and got back to it.

A co-worker suggested I look at SparkPeople, and here I am. All of you are so inspiring, it makes me feel better to know that I now have a place to come and get support even when that support is shaky at home.

Thank you in advance...

Here I go!

Erin
