I'm currently a walker / jogger looking to become a regular runner & I think this group will aid in my success.

Thanks for the welcome. I am currently looking into getting a watch with intervals on it. I am kind of thinking of a Timex Ironman. It has a couple of models that have intervals.

It will be a while before I am ready for a race, but I read it over and over that nothing motivates like signing up for a race. So that is on my to-do list.

Hello Shari and welcome. I stumbled into Galloway methodology as well but I am a disciple now! Training for my first marathon in October, but I even do run/walk on my 5K races. I have a Garmin Forerunner 220 GPS watch and it has run/walk settings so makes it easy for me. I'm 59 and started running a little less than 5 years ago. No olympic / world running records are ever in jeopardy from me, but I do it for the fun and to stay in good shape.

Welcome! I used Galloway when I started running 8.5 years ago...I had never, ever, liked running in my life, even when I was a kid. So when I started, it was pretty painful. I kind of stumbled on to Galloway myself. My typical runs these days don't include many walk breaks, unless I'm going long, like 8-10 miles, or, when I've been sidelined for a week or two with a running related ache or pain. My wife, who used to be a runner, which is one reason I took up running (both my wife and daughter were running at the time...I wanted the enjoyment of being with them in addition to the health benefits), stopped running a few years ago due to knee issues. Well, she figured out that her knee issues were related to the 25 extra pounds she had slowly put on over the years. Anyway, we both decided to work on our weight this year, and she wanted to run again. So I introduced her to Galloway, and that helped her get thru the sore knees issue and which helped her lose the weight. She is still using Galloway once or twice a week to avoid overdoing it, but she's now ready to run her first 5k race, and I'm pretty sure that she'll do it in about 25-26 minutes. I've done a few, and I'm working toward my second half marathon. I'm now sub 25 in the 5k, and hoping to finish my half in October at 1:59 or better, and I will be using Galloway for that.

Well, I havent done any running since I was a kid. I had never heard of Jeff Galloway until a few days ago. I am working on day 12 of the 5K Your Way Walk/Jog Challenge. An article popped up to read and it mentioned the Jeff Galloway team. I am excited to bring running back into my life.
