Thanks to your encouragement I just received the 25 miles trophy! That is basically 25 miles in 22 days, not a lot for you pros, but big deal for this newbie, only 1/2 of a mile was running the rest walking, but I plan to double this in May! Thank you all and especially Seabreeze64! emoticon

Isn't it funny how we set markers up... There is a big rock at the corner of our street that is used as a bus stop for the kids. My goal at first was to make it to the Rock! which is about 5 houses! I have used trees...Just get to the next tree...then it was to the lamppost....then to the hill.... I finally got a gymboss interval timer and set it but I sort of miss the days when I would tell my DH after he asked me how far did you go..and I would say to the rock and back!

Have a good day!

And... I think being a happy runner is a good goal for all of us...If we like what we do, we will stay with it and it is good for our health!

Welcome!

Ann

Hey SOPHINEZ!!!

Good for you....

We were all "new" runners at one time.

Another option....
jog one house....walk one house....jog one house.... walk one house - and do 10 houses altogether!!!!

Crawling, but will run one day! I still remember how much I loved to run as a child, teen, and young adult. At 53, I can only jog intervals of "4 houses long" and it doesn't feel good, yet. I do feel great each time I can add another "house". Last night I got the first pay off, please don't laugh too hard you amazing runners...but I jogged nonstop in my hotel room for 5 minutes straight and it felt good and I didn't hurt!!!

Even though it is cold, rainy and downright blah here in Marquette, Michigan today...because of your encouragement, I will run at least 5 "houses" today!

Bless you all for your inspiration and stories!!!

Welcome to a great team!

Slow is relative, so do not think of yourself as slow. Think of all the people around you that are still on the couch!

You will see progress fast enough, just listen to your body, train injury free, and emoticon to the wonderful world of running!

Welcome to the team....

Don't worry about pace..... being slow or fast. Getting out there and exercising is fantastic.

Welcome to the team!

There is no need to feel like there is something wrong with being slow or mostly walking. I too have found that doing both running and walking works best for me.

Here's cheering you on!

Kristie, 5 k is a great distance. Having that as a goal can lead to improved fitness. And if you are happy that's a extra win .

Hello team, I am a slow newbie runner, but I am a happy runner (mostly walker). I started about a year and a half ago but had some medical setbacks. For now I have only run 5k's and have been happy with that. My goal is a 10k and maybe more in the future. The run/walk method has been a big help.
