Thank you for your replies, kind words and advice.
My dog, Peter and self are now off for a long walk.
But before I go I would just like to introduce you to Peter who is a rescue dog, 2 years old and a black Labrador cross Lurcher. He is a cheeky dog with no meanness in him at all.
Off now to loose some pounds and work the heart rate up.

Welcome aboard, Bobby -- glad you've taken this step. I've found that people here are very honest, willing to share their successes, temptations and discouraging times. And I've found several folks here who have shown me that reasonable expectations and reasonable behavior result in the kind of health situation I want to have in my retirement.

Welcome to the MYNA Team board. Not too active these days, but that comes and goes with time...
Welcome to your autumn....I sure hope it will be longer than 3 months! With walking and tracking exercise and food on SP you'll do well. 75 minutes of a brisk walk is great!

Hello my names Bob,
I've been following the Spark way for the past few months and lost weight. I'm nearing the autumn of my years and I need to loose about 56lbs. I've recently had a bad bout of work related stress that sent my blood pressure high and created a situation where just eat and eat which affected my cholesterol levels. In all it was a spiralling downward journey for me. I'm now in the throws of a new dawn for me and the journey is fraught with temptations of bad food and old habits. I have taken to walking the dog for most days which really helps listening to music en route and before you know it I've walked for about 75 minutes. My quest and reason for this message is to join the spark community and learn from others to enable a more healthier me, to add extra years to my life all of which I want them to be good years..
So hello all and any advice and encouragement is most welcome.
