Muscle burns fat, so why put it off., get in there and start lift some weights, I am total serious, you have more to gain by balancing out you work outs. and play some to, jump rope, hop scotch, anything to get you laughing and having fun.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. When I go to the gym I've been sticking mostly to the elliptical machine to burn as many calories as possible. I haven't used any weights yet. I figure that there's no sense trying to tone the muscles around a massive gut so I want to lose the fat first and then tone. Having my arms work the machine does seem to work the flanks and I feel like I'm getting some toning anyway.

I've been a spark member for quite a while but never really looked into the site until recently. I'm still trying to figure out how everything works. In my 40s, married over 20 years, and I found that I feel a lot better when I don't have the mid-age gut. I've done the yo yo thing a few times and now have to both lose and then learn to maintain. I look forward to interacting with you guys and working each other through the process.
