It's not that it creeps up on me, it's more like, boom there it is. I have never been this heavy before and it wasn't until I saw a picture of myself did I realize. I can still wear 2X shirts and size 44 pants....but I miss my 38's lol.

Keep it real-you won't lose it by taking things easy. The harder you work, the better results you'll get. As I posted on your page-if you need a training/diet buddy, let me know. We're similar in weight, and have similar goals. And I've 'Been there Done that' when it comes to dropping significant weight in the past.

Speaking of which-it does tend to creep back up on you, and all of a sudden you realize how big you are again.

Welcome back Coleby. This was just an obstacle that you have to overcome. Lets get back on the horse and get it going again. I'm having problems myself. I just gained back 4.5 pounds this week. But thats not going to stop me. Keep pressing forward. I'm thinking of famous baseball players that have hit record homeruns. How many times did they strikeout to get to that record number of homeruns? As many times as I've fallen off the wagon and started losing again. They succeeded and so can we. You have a great day and good luck with your weightloss journey.

Welcome to the team Coleby. Take small steps and you'll get there. I look forward to your participation. Paul

4 Noble Truths

1. Suffering is a part of life
2. Suffering is caused by our attachments and avoidances.
3. Suffering can be ended.
4. Freedom from suffering is possible by following the Eightfold path.

Don't let the big numbers overwhelm you. Start small and build on it. Start out with easy things and add to it every day or every week or whatever you're comfortable with. Start out by cutting something out of your diet that you know to be bad, adding a glass or two of water, and taking a ten minute walk. Next week, cut another bad diet item, add another glass of water, and up your walk to eleven minutes. Just keep doing something like this and pretty soon you'll be healthy and wonder how you got that way. It'll sneak up on you.

For me, the most important things are the trackers. They will give you incentive to change and to keep going. I'll never forget that first day I forced myself to track all my food without lying to myself. I was astounded by sodium. I knew my calories had to be high to be heading for 300 pounds so fast, but I couldn't believe how high my sodium was. I started in late '05 and lost just over a hundred pounds. I stopped using the tools and got way too relaxed about it and had soon gained a bunch of weight back. I now know the hard way that there is no quitting. It's a lifelong commitment. Start it and stick with it. You'll never be sorry.

Best of luck and welcome to the team!

and for some reason the tracker at the bottom isn't accurate for me, but I am working on that too!

well I am not new, but it's been so long I feel that I am. I am 30 years old, and my wife and I have a 5 month old boy. I have tried a lot of diets and have not succeeded with the weight loss. I saw a video of me from just a couple days ago and my jaw dropped. i didn't realize I was that big! I have weighed myself and I have ballooned to 294 pounds, and I am only 5'11". I have a hard time staying comitted, and some of the diet ideas just aren't for me. I know I need help and am looking for it. I need to lose about 100 lbs now....on to the fight!
