Thanks Paul,
Sparkpage has been up & Running for quite some time now. Still a work in progress, but I do have several blogs posted.

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.

4 Noble Truths

1. Suffering is a part of life
2. Suffering is caused by our attachments and avoidances.
3. Suffering can be ended.
4. Freedom from suffering is possible by following the Eightfold path.

Bigotry disguised as morality is still bigotry just as an outhouse with
marble columns is still an outhouse.

Thanks for the kind words. The running is going well thus far. I am easing into it by using the cool runnings C25K program. Well into week three and I'm really enjoying it. I'm seriously empressed with your list of triathalons. Don't know if I'd ever get to that level (plus I don't swim well), but I'd love to get to a point where I can regularly complete 3-6 miles.

Hello all. My name is Steve from MO, and I've been on SparkPeople for about a month. I had been searching for a "guys only" group for a while and I'm glad I finally stumbled upon it.

A little background, I have been losing weight over the last year from 280 to 220. When people ask how I did it, my answer is "a healthy mix of diet, stress, and diabetes". My diabetes was only diagnosed about a month ago so I am still in somewhat in shock and pissed about it. Although I have been eating better over the last year, I recently have started to get my portions and "holes" in my diet under control. With all that, I have began getting my blood sugars back to normal and may be able to get off the medications, at least for the time being.

I've also started working out again, but as a general rule hate cardio. So I decided I needed a goal to work towards instead of just mindlessly trudging the eliptical or treadmill. Someone at work about a year ago was raving a couch to 5k program so I googled it and have done it religiously 3x per week since then. It has really helped me focus on getting my cardio in. I also have a few resistance training workouts that a personal trainer friend of mine has set up for me.

I have spent the better part of the last decade trying to loose weight with several ups and downs. Now, the opportunity has been somewhat forced upon me and I am trying to take advantage of the challenges I've been given.

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.
