I am lucky enough to have degenerative discs as well, so that makes it even more important that I follow through with this commitment.
Thanks for the encouragement and support.

I haven't had the surgery, but I have degenerative disc's, and feel your pain. You've made a lot of changes (congratulations), and this place is great for support and encouragement. If you need anything, post the question and you'll get information.

I'm Glad to be a part of the team, during my 6 week recovery, I have been doing a lot of reading on SP and planning on how I am going to continue this.
Just getting all the replies is a great motivation helper already.

I didn't have the surgery like you had but my "ah ha" moment came almost 3 years ago when I was coming back from St Lucia and got stuck in a center seat of an airplane for 5+ hours! I was miserable, uncomfortable, and realized I needed to start taking care of myself better.

I've had a few ups and downs along the way, but overall I am much healthier than I was on that flight home.

Good luck and remember we're all here for you.

That has been the hardest habit to create was writing everything down, it really opens your eyes to the calorie intake when you write everything down, I found that I was drinking alot of my calories.
Looking forward to being a part of the group
Thanks.

I have to agree with matey. food intake is the biggest singe factor with fat loss or fitness in general.

write everything down. once you do that everything will start to come together for you.

Thanks for the advice, fortunately I used the time off work to focus on changing my eating habits as well, I know it is going to be a challenge when I get back to my normal routine, but that is why I am making myself accountable on SP, I set it to my homepage just so I see it every morning and night. That will help keep motivated. During the time off I was even able to lose about 8 lbs. Probably added a few back on with turkey dinner though. LOL

I,m not in your situation I'm just old. Can't do some of the thing I use to. If you're really serious about changing your life that is what SP is all about. The one suggestion I would say is the most important is Tracking your nutrition. 80% of this game is controlling your intake of food. Fitness play an important part to and should not be over looked but it doesn't have to be strenuous. There are lots of people who have lost their weight by walking and tracking nutrition. Wish you the best of luck. You will feel so much better when you get the weight off and gain some fitness. It is all worth it.

Recovering from cervical spine surgery, this is the first step to getting back to living right again. This recovery has helped me to stop some of the bad habits like smoking, drinking, etc. Now I need to keep it going with the rest of the process. Diet, exercise , etc. I started this before but did not stay on track. This surgery has kind of rekindled the motivation, anyone else out there have a similar type of situation with some words of advise?
