Hi - I'm going to be 45 in a few months, and I love these challenges. I started running in Feb after having a medical condition taken care of that was getting in the way. I can't say that I love running, but I do love that running burns lots of calories. I have just started high intensity interval training and I enjoy the challenge it gives me too. I can't wait to start!

HI
I am Vickie from Casper WY.
I will be 60 on Sept 5th.
I definetely will be a walker. I never enjoyed running. I have a few medical reasons for not running right now. Hope losing the weight will get rid of most of those issues. I have a daughter and 2 grandchildren, and 2 stepgrandchildren. I am looking forward to this challenge. I do like to walk in the fall!
I joined the virtue walk site also- 57617, so I am excited to see if it motivates me to walk!
See all of you on the track!

Hi

My name is Karen and I live in Pennsylvania. I have been on SparkPeople for almost 2 years. I have lost 25 pounds during that time but would still like to lose at least 10 more. I am content with the way I look now, but would still like to meet my original goal. My major exercise is walking. I run sometimes, but not as much. I have a treadmill at home that I use, as well as Leslie Sansone Walk at Home dvds and I walk outside when I get the chance. I try to take about a 45 minute walk each day at work. I also ride bike when I have the chance. My husband and I love riding the Rails to Trails and are fortunate to have about a 35 mile trail just 6 miles from us. We ride it as often as possible.

Looking forward to being part of this team and taking part in the challenge for September.

Karen

Hi, I'm Kathy (or Kate) from Maryland. I'm 60 with a bad right knee, so I walk, and I walk, and I walk! Who knows, I may start running if I break down and get a super cushy treadmill for home. I remember my college days when I would run from one end of the campus to the other; now I can hardly run for 1 minute! I have gradually built up endurance from 6 minutes/Level 3 on January 12, to 75 minutes/Level 4 on the gym's treadmill. In August my weight loss accelerated, so I'm in the groove now.

I signed up for the Transamerica walk on exercise.lbl.gov/index.html as user 57777, for 15 miles/week of walking.

Hello! my name is Ramona and Pvillelady invited me to join this team--she is my best cheerleader!

My DH Rip found out he has diabetes and needed to lose weight so we started walking and then jogging to get the weight off--We get up at 4:30 a.m and hit the track at 5a.m so we can get it done before my hubby has to go to the fire dept where he is a pencil pusher--Asst. fire chief. We actually jog by flash light talk about determination to get it done! LOL! Thanks for the invite Diane. See ya at the track!

sorry to hear that injuries keep getting you down. I have been dealing with knee pain lately. i would just say listen to your body and I believe good shoes make a huge difference. go slow - it is about doing it, not killing it :)
would love to stay in touch and if you ever need someone to discuss with - just holler!!

Hi everyone! My name is Megan and I'm a college student from Rhode Island:0) I just joined SP about a week ago because I'm sick of feeling like my body controls everything I do. I started using a stationary bike about a year ago off and on and lost ten pounds, but I would like to start running eventually. I have a bad knee and the doctor says running is a no no for now, so right now my goal is to strengthen my knees enough to run. I signed up for World Run Day (Nov. 8th) as the day I will finally run one mile straight for the first time in my life! I'm so excited to get started.

I've got my hands up, they're playing my song, I know I'm gonna be okay...

Hi Everyone,
I'm Patty and I live in AZ. I started running 2 years ago and have completed a 5k, 5 half marathons and 1 marathon. This summer has been so hot that I've been staying in a lot so I'm excited about this challenge and hopefully cooler weather to get my miles in again.

Hello everyone! My name is Natasha.
I have been a member of spark people for a few months now and I love it. I decided at the end of march 2009, when none of my clothes fit me, that it was time I did something about it. When I started out, I was 234, and a size 16/17. Today, 5 months later, I am at 178,and a size 9. over 50 lbs lost, and i am very proud of myself! 23 lbs left till my initial goal of 155. I have been walking everyday for about 3 or 4 months now, and it really does wonders. I am really motivated, and workout about an hour and a half a day. Plus I now watch what I eat. who knew eating every 3 hours actually works!! lol... I am 27, and a single mother of a 10 year old, and a 5 year old. Cant wait to start the challenge!!

I have only tried long distance walking or fast passed walking and if felt similar to what you have described i would just stretch or try to take it slow but, unfortunatley I am not a physician, and would usually estimate how far the distance I should go, just to be on the safe side, ya know but i wouldn't mind walking that race! lots of prayers

Hello Ladies
I have been on sparkpeople for some time now but illness has kept me from being very active. I would like to do a 5K and am trying the Coach 2 5K program. anyone else using this? I usually get to week 2 and injure myself. Any tips on staying injury free throughout this process. The next big race near me is in October. I would like to participate even if i don't run/jog the entire thing. I'm excited about this journey and look forward to the support this team will provide.

Hi. I'm new to the team and I'm excited about this challenge. I started SparkPeople 3 days ago. I started the cardio bootcamp today and found out that I am WAY out of shape. I'm hoping that this will help boost my cadio workouts and get me in shape faster. I tried the 10 minute Day 1 SP bootcamp video today and thought I was going to kill over (I'm 33 years old and 140lbs). My son (10 years old) is a little on the husky (as my mom-in-law calls it)and he is willing to go walking with me also. I've been trying to get him more active for quite some time, so this is something I NEED to do, if he is willing then he is going to be my motivation.

Hi I'm Stacy from Wilber, Nebraska the Czech Capital of the United States. I'm a 31 year old wife and mother of an almost 3 year old. I love to walk in fact that is how I lost about 63 lbs after I had my daughter. This past 8 months I've kind of hit a plateau and needed something to get me going again. I found SP in May and have really liked using this site. I'm very excited about this challenge and can't wait to get started. I would also like to start jogging and maybe one day running so I'm hoping this challenge can help me to do that.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be

Hi- I'm 52, wife, mother, grandmother (YAY!)

Like Springtime, I joined the challenge to get motivated to exercise & be held accountable.

I plan to walk at least 3 miles, five times per week & start the C25K along the way.

It's great to have this group to share such a fun challenge with!

Hi to everyone on the team! I have been a Sparkpeople user for about a year, but this is my first real challenge. I have hit a plateau so I hope this will help me in the right direction. I also signed up to walk/run in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure at the end of September, so my plan is to build up my endurance and do most of the race running! This is exactly what I need to be motivated!

Hi there. Relatively new to SP, still feeling my way around, this is my first team. This challenge sounds like just the kick in the pants I need.My preferred exercise is walking/hiking, but I sometimes use Leslie Sansone’s walk at home dvd’s. I would like to lose about 20 pounds, but at age 51, the weight doesn’t come off like it used to, so I mainly want to focus on developing good exercise and nutrition habits, to stay healthy and feel better. If I lose some pounds, so much the better emoticon

Hi Team!

I was walking 30 minutes a day 4-5 times a week before it got too hot. I've taken a few walks and some step aerobics classes lately but I really want to get back to walking on a regular basis. I guess my goal for September will be to walk 30 minutes 4-5 times per week.

It's been hard for me to find the time for exercise lately. I work full time and take care of my granddaughter on Saturdays and 3-4 evenings a week but I'm determined to find some me time somehow. Plus, my dog needs to lose weight, too, so I need to take her along with me.

Good luck all!

Hi, I'm Jennifer! I'm 35, married with no kids, and live in Wisconsin. I've been attempting to become a runner for the past 5 years, and I just can't seem to string together my running intervals. I run for 1.5 minutes, walk for 30 seconds, run, walk, repeat, etc. I'm hoping this challenge will help me figure out if I'm going too fast, too slow, expecting too much, or not pushing myself hard enough to see progres. But I don't let any of that stop me from participating in events - I just love them.

Can't wait for it all to start!

This is my one shot at life. I will not give up on myself.

Hi my name is Marci. I am married with 2 kids (son 10, daughter 4) and I live in New Orleans, LA. I am trying to get into exercising so I have been walking everyday. I used to run alot when I was in college but I damaged my knees pretty bad so the doc says I can only walk now. I am hoping this challenge will help kick my butt into gear to step up my exercise!

Hi,

I'm Jenny. I'm 20 years old and I've been on Spark for half a week, and I'm aiming to lose 15 pounds by Halloween. I used to run when I was younger and really want to get back into it, not just for the calorie burn but for the fun I used to have.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Kris, 33 and have been on spark for a while now. I lost about 65lbs total but over the last month have been slacking off a little on the exercise which is a recipe for disaster! I am hoping this challenge will get me back into my groove with my running/walking and motivate me as well! Good luck, all! emoticon

Hello everyone, I am Shekera. I am a single mother of 3, currently residing in Birmingham, Alabama. My youngest is 10 months and I am about 50 pounds overweight (and thats being nice). I am looking for a fun way to meet people and lose weight. I think this is a great idea and I am planning to stick to it. My problem is that I get into a slump sometimes. I look forward to chatting it up with every.

Hi everyone, I'm Sarah, 30 and live in Perth, Scotland. I am just winding down my training for my first ever half-marathon on Sept 6th - so this challenge appeared at exactly the right time to keep me running afterwards!!

I've completed so far this year 2 5K's a 10K and the 8 mile leg of the Hairy Haggis Marathon Relay (Edinburgh Marathon). I have another 10K Oct 18th so need to keep running after my half to be ready for that!

Hi everyone, I'm Julie from Vancouver Island Canada. I like to walk, probably not as much as I should, & I have a treadmill for the bad weather days. emoticon

Hello all,
My name is Lisa and I really do love to walk. I do try to run on too but I feel more comfortable walking. I haven't joined a challenge like this before so I am very excited.

Hey everyone,
My name is Kimiko and I am a member of a few running teams. I was running, stopped, and am getting back into it. This team sounds like a great idea and a positive place to be. I'm really excited. So far, I've gone 2 days in a row for my 30 minutes each! Woo Hoo!

Hi there everyone, my name is Becky and I am currently a member of the 10,000 steps team. On that team a group of us are doing the WalkAmerica, virtual walk and are having a lot of fun with it. This team sounds like it will be pretty fun also. My goal on WalkAmerica is a total of 28 walking miles and 28 biking miles per week, or 4 miles each per day average.

You can only take one step at a time, it is best that the step is forward, not back. But even a backward step is exercise! LOL

Hello,
My name is Karen. I live in Texas and I've been a SP member since May. I am recovering still from a spinal fusion I had in December and have Fibromyalgia. I face quite a many challenges between the two but staying as active as I can is my goal. I have just been able to return to getting some what active since my surgery. I walk at this time 1/2 mile and my goal is to increase this as I go along. I'm looking foward in being a team member as I look at this as the motivation I need to help me in my recovery.

If God brings you to it, he

Hi, my name is Heather. I just joined. I'm 26, I'm a single mother of 2 little girls and I live in Hampton, VA. I've been trying to lose weight for awhile and it's been hard with illnesses popping up, dealing with depression and just being too tired. Trying to change things around now!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Tabi, and I currently live in Essex, Vermont. I'm 38 and have 3 kids 7 and under, plus work full time outside the home. I just started trying to lose weight in earnest this summer, and so far so good. I've added walking to my weekly regimen - taking 2-4 mile walks at lunchtime when it's not raining (like it is today emoticon ). I've never been a runner, but would like to start participating in 5K walk/runs - not to win, but for scheduled exercise for a good cause.

Hi everyone!

My name is Toni and I have been a walker now for about 3 years. I've tried running but can't seem to move my weight along at a faster speed!! Hope to get to know everyone and get back the motivation that has fled over the summer!

Hi everyone

I've been run/walking off and on for a couple of years now. Have done 2 half marathons (Nike Women's and Toronto Women's) and am currently training for the Toronto Goodlife Half Marathon on October 18. Have also done a couple of 5K Runs for the Cure. I am not fast, but I get the job done! Looking to improve my finishing times. Happy to find this team where I hope to learn from/be inspired by others, and maybe I can offer some support and guidance as well!

Hi Team!

Just joined today and must say I'm excited. I can't seem to lose a dang pound but my health has improved as I can easily do an hour at 3.7mph on a varying incline (3-7%). I am glad all my walking will help this team out!

Life is short...wear heels!

I am loving working out... it's a top priority now. It helps that my daughter loves the kid gym provided and asks to go often! Thanks 24 hr Fitness!

Height: 5'2"
Shape: Kickin' Latina Curves
Goal: Wear a 2 piece for the first time in my life
Inspiration: my beautiful 4 year old that watches me like a hawk. She is taking tumbling and ballet...I want her to learn from me the proper balance of nutrition

Hi. I'm Janet. I started running last April through my local Road Runners Club. I ran my first 5K on June 20, and an 8K 3 weeks later. At the moment, I'm not focusing on any greater distance than that, but I continue to work on my overall fitness. I have another 5K coming up in two weeks.

Hi, I'm Candy. I'm 51 and live in NY. I've been with SP since November last yr, but through the summer, I've lost track of my goals and have gained a few lbs back. I joined this team to put me back on track!

I already walk 5-6 days a week for 1-3 miles a day. I think walking a 5k would be something I could do.
