Welcome to the Team!

I know I came into program with a belief in God. But I had a lot of work ahead of me as I did not believe that my God would give a darn about what I ate or how much I weigh. Boy was I wrong! The whole two first years in program was a lesson in trust and letting go. It was very difficult for me, but oh so worth it.

I'm glad you guys have found something that works for you!

What if we woke up tomorrow with only those things that we thanked God for today?

"It isn't me." Boy, that's for sure! I still have no idea what it IS, which really bothered me at first; but it's helping me a lot, which continues to amaze me. Thanks Nell.

A lot (probably most) of us stumbled over the God issue at first. I was told at the beginning that the only thing I needed to know about God is that there is one and it wasn't me. OK, I could live with that. I remember a man who said that God lived in the glove compartment of his car, and while he was commuting to and from work, he would open his glove compartment and talk to God. It worked. I got sober in AA in 1977, the year that a movie called "Oh God" came out, starring George Burns and John Denver. It was hilarious as well as a relief that I didn't have to subscribe to someone else's vision of God. I was free to follow the Program with my own vision of God, but the Program's vision of everything else.
