The theory of Calories In vs. Calories Out (CICO) is broken!

Check out the book: "The Calorie Myth" by Jonathan Bailor. Quality foods that include plenty of water / green tea, will help the body heal it's hormonal breakdowns as well as help out metabolism. Quality proteins (100-200 grams ea day) + nonstarchy veggies will provide many healing properties in terms of phytonutrients.

Think of our bodies as having a clogged drain that is indicated by our overweight status. Until we do the work to break up the clog, all the exercise we do will really NOT make a difference. We need to work SMARTER, not longer!

It can take TIME before the inside heals to allow weight to begin to drop off. -- When I first focused on healthy, non-processed food eaten, it took 3 months before my weight showed any change & then 10#'s gone in a month!

Don't forget, every body IS different! You have to find what works for YOU!

Do not get discouraged. The weight did not hop on overnight and will not fall off overnight. Use the tools that Sparks offers. One of the best is the food tracker. Follow it faithfully with your food intake and it will reveal a lot. I personally changed my eating after the first 2 weeks of tracking. No more sodas, no more prepackaged and processed food etc. The results started showing very soon. I am now on more maintenence at thus point. I am still loosing a couple of pounds every few weeks, which also allows for a pound or 2 of weight gain doing special occas Zions etc

Keep on track

Hello Kathy, My name is Michele. I have a 163 pounds to lose. I usually lose 10 to 20 pounds in the first weeks. This time I'm losing a half a pound to a pound a week. I've been doing this for 2 months. It is very frustrating. Until last week I didn't see any sign of it but now I'm wearing a 3X instead of a 4X pants. Nobody says anything so I don't think I'd look smaller so it's hard to keep motivation going. I actually joined to get healthier and more endurance so I can help my disabled husband. Also I'm a nanny and I need more energy to be with the children. So I kind of have to do this! The first thing I would do if I were you is get a physical from your doctor if you can.. Get his recommendations for weight loss and calorie count. I find I eat like a diabetic and I have my sugars and my proteins tied together. I also am exercising at least an hour a day if not 2 so I need a higher calorie. Spark suits me very well that way. If you're not exercising much you may need to stick to a 1200 calorie menu vs the 1900. Keep plugging away. you're welcome to contact me on a daily basis and let me know your exercise progress or even if you just want to chat. Time will tell I promise
