Hi everyone! New to the team but not new to Spark People. I use another app to track my calories and exercise now but decided to come back for extra motivation, recipes etc. I've been on my current weight loss journey since June 4 and have lost 30 lbs so far. Goal is another 20. I'm taking the slower road this time around. The last time I was here approx 2 years ago I was dieting in an unhealthy manner and dropped 28 lbs in only about 2 1/2 months. Needless to say it all came back but for 2 lbs. This time I'm making more effort to change my lifestyle. emoticon

Welcome, Mary Ann! Sounds like you are getting yourself set up this week to be successful at making some good changes. I know what you mean about the sugar - and this is a tough time of the year for someone who never met a sweet they didn't like, lol.

Good Morning to all...My name is Mary Ann, and I've decided to rejoin today. Also, I'd love to have a login buddy.
Clearing out the cobwebs, and trying to modify the fridge and pantry. Boy, November, leaves to rake and it's a gray day here in NH. Starting to track food AGAIN. I went on a sugar binge for the last two months...well, to be honest, I've been on a sugar binge since birth it seems. However, lately it appears to be a bit out of control for me.
So...Here I sit. On vacation this week, and determined to take this week to break the sugar cravings, exercise daily (althought to be honest, fitting in a workout is not hard for me!), then schedule a massage....and see if logging in every day starts me toward my goal weight.

Mary Ann, living in DC with home in NH.

Each day renew with a grateful heart.

Welcome Terri. I have been a member for a number of years and I have been taking baby steps from the beginning. I have lost weight, but more importantly I feel healthier as my size decreases. I found it was more successful for me when I gave up premade and processed food. It is only my Hubby and I and we both like to cook. We use frsh or frozen fruits and veggies. We shop at our local farmers market for these. We plan our menus up to a week at a time depending on what is fresh at the market We use fresh herbs and spices This has worked for us. I do not drink sodas or other sugary drinks. I do drink a lot of water. This is what works for us. Hubby is losing weight now that he has given up the sodas and the junk out of the vending machine at work

Keep on track

Hi my name is Deby and I live near Denver, so we are practically neighbors..lol I am about 25 pounds overweight and it would be great to have someone to be a partner in this. I am 52 so we are close to same age. I have just started a program of taking bio-identical hormones, since mine are so out of whack! I had my first insertion last week, so still new to this program. supposed to not only help with hormones but also with weight too. so I am really wanting this to work on both fronts. Well, got to run some errands will check back in an hour or so. Hope to chat soon. Take care.

Hi Ladies!

I just turned 50 in September. I can hardly believe it. I sure as heck don't feel like I am 50. I have been a member of Spark since 2008 but was a lookie-lou for a long time to see what other people were doing and if this website was really going to stick around. I used the nutrition tracker off and on and lost some weight but didn't stick to it (as I am sure some of you can relate to). Was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2004 which wasn't a surprise considering my very sedentary lifestyle and eating habits.

So, that brings me to 2013. I decided that it was FINALLY time to get off the stick and lose the weight. I would like to get off or reduce my medications by my 10-year diabetes anniversary of May 2014. I am doing great so far and have lost 71 pounds so far.

I love Spark because it has the nutrition tracker which I definitely need as I need something to tell me what I can eat. I have added several things to it but I use it every day. I am also starting to reach out more and have made my first post this month and joined another member in a November Challenge to lose 5 pounds this month.

A litte about me, I live in Cheyenne, WY. We (my husband and I) live 15 miles outside of town so it is pretty rural. I work from home so I don't have much contact with people which is another reason I am posting more. I think I need more contact with the outside world. I read alot and I love to bake and cook. I have put my baking on hold until I lose more weight which is hard but as I don't have any co-workers to share with I don't need the goodies here. I have given them to my husband to take to his office which is most guys and they are very appreciative so I can occasionally get my baking bug a workout.

Probably the biggest change for me this year has been to get way more active. I am up to 2.5 hours of exercise a day (Mon - Fri). This year we purchased an elliptical, a stationary bike and a Bowflex. We have a treadmill that I used off an on. It's funny, my husband was the one who wanted the bike and the bowflex but I am the one who uses all the equipment. It was a challenge but I started on the elliptical at 5 minutes which I thought was going to kill me! I worked up 2 to 3 minutes a week until I was at 30 minutes. I have worked up to 30 minutes on the other equipment and do the treadmill twice. Now, I feel guilty (a little) if I don't exercise. Quite a difference from the couch potato of a year ago.

I am hoping to meet some of you and look forward to sharing a healthy living weight loss journey with you all.

Terri
