The weight really does seem to creep up on us. I am following a lowcarb plan now. Keeping the carbs low are important to me because of my insulin response to carbs.

When I go on vacation, I don't deprive myself too much. I just eat a tiny amount of the things I know I shouldn't have.

Good morning! Back on board. Don't think I eat that much..but something is causing the scale to creep ever higher and it is time to face reality!! Biggest challenge is planning meals ahead. Finding the right balance. here we go!! Also going on vacation in two weeks and do not want to come home 10 pounds heavier. I will be 200 lbs if I don't get eating/exercise under control.

A goal without a plan is just a wish...AdS-E

emoticon - Sounds like you have put a lot of thought into your plan and are very motivated. It must have been a frightening wake-up call to put yourself first for a while.

hello everyone..I am new to spark people. but I had heart attack 4 months ago and have to lose weight. I need to do it for me and my children and grandchildren. I have tried diets in the past and thats is what they were is "diets" I have to have a lifestyle change. I want to be around when my grandchildren graduate. and I have a special needs son who is 11 and he will be with me til the day i die and I need to take care of him. I started the calorie counting almost a month ago. I have lost 8 pounds in a month. I found sparkpeople a couple of weeks ago. I really like ti but dont know how to utilize everything it offers just yet. I have 7 kids and 6 grandchildren and it is my turn to think of me and my health. I am highly motivated and do very well watching what I eat and exercising 60 minutes a day. the scales goes up and day and it drives me crazy. been getting too much sodium and that fluctuates my weight alot. havent checked my measurements yet wanted to wait a full month to check them. wed will be a full month.I take alot of herbs and vitamins. alot of fiber and protein and I think it helps me alot. what do you guys think of supplements?

Hi, Ladies! Well, I've been lurking on SparkPeople forever, it seems. Today I am finally committing to losing weight and taking care of myself. My hubby said this weekend that he was going to try and lose a little weight, and I felt so terribly ashamed of myself for being so heavy. My BFF has lost over 100 pounds (due to chemo, but she's healthy now) and I feel very self-conscious around her now. I can't play with my dogs for 10 minutes without getting terribly winded, and then I feel bad about myself.

All these bad feelings are making me unhappy, so I decided to do something about it instead of brooding about what a bad person I am. I'm hopeful that I can maybe find a little encouragement here :-) and maybe be of some help to someone else.

Here's to a hopeful future!
