Sometimes, motivation is looking to someone else and how they handle things. Also, how someone looks to you. When you know you should set an example, it helps keep you motivated.--PJ

We all have obstacles in our body that is hard to defeat, but we can never give up trying to improve our bodies however we can. If I had sat down and given in, after having my back surgery, it is possible that I might not be walking around. I thought I would not be able to ever do aroebic exercise again. But I proved to myself that I can do it. Is it harder for me than someone who does not have a back problem? Sure it is, sometimes while I am working out, I have continuous pain & I feel like quitting. But I know that I am doing my back a favor, because exercise is better than sitting or lying around--that really causes more pain. PJ can identify with this.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth."

It's like with Fibromyalgia, you're given a horrible prognosis and told all the things you can't do again. Then looking it square in the face (I think of it as a controlling beast) and saying no and proving it.--PJ

I read, I can't find my groove, I know I need to do this or that, I can't get started. That sounds like loser talk, why? Because, you're here on the SP site and you unlike other people, wanted to make a change. We're here , because we want to win, to triump, to be healthier.

So, the next time you question yourself, lay down the law, say winner's do it.--PJ

Today, I felt like something stinky, warmed over. The terrible word for mature. I really didn't like it and there's so good reason for it.

So, I made a mental ist of things, I'm going to accomplish tomorrow.

Sometimes, motivation comes from putting yourself in someone elses shoes.

Think about, how someone else, sick or dying, would use your life.

When my dad was told, he had little time left, he would have grabbed each moment we squander, with a passion.--PJ

Negativity can be motivational. I can't stand this mess, or I have to take responsibilty or my butt is so big, I'd be in danger in Alaska, during whale season.

Many times, you have to really dislike something to improve it.

If you feel that it has to pe positive instead, then "I positively don't like this."

The big thing is you want to make it better.--PJ

Example. We don't realize how important it is.

I worked with a Mennonite once that I admired so much. He let you know his faith and lived by example. He was very calm, very humerous and very at peace.

He also got me in trouble with my boss, because he was my friend.

We had lots of people smoking in our department and he asked for a smokefree work place. It didn't happen, so one day he wore a gas mask at his desk.

My boss, said he was my friend and tell him to take it off. That was Friday.

On Monday, our office went smokefree.

Pride. It's a very important motivator. If you think about how people perceive you, it's important. If they see you trying they will admire that and not what you're worrying about. My body needs mechanical, cosmetic, sculpturing and an oil change, but I'm very proud of what I do for someone mature.

So, be proud, you deserve it. emoticon PJ

That's good to know, They've put the pacemaker 24 hr. halter on SIRJON twice and when he's active, it keeps his pulse in a low but acceptable range. The problem is, he shows no warning signs, when it is dropping. So, he has the blood pressure cuff and me. Boy, that's motivation for any man.--PJ

PJ,
My DH has a pacemaker and a defib., for serveral years now. His battery is low now and He got a call from his doctor yesterday that the whole unit needs replacing. He is waiting for a call from the doctor, advising when he is to go to the hospital to have this done. He will stay overnight only. The trip is over 100 miles away from our place. He gets a long great with these divices.

Because I want keep SIRJON's pulse up (to avoid a pacemaker) (and I'm not slinky and sexy presently), I have to motivate him (nice doesn't work).Sometime's, "It's move your $$$ and other times, it's "Okay, use it or lose it". Whatever way, motivation can be hard to muster up on occasion, whether for yourself or others. But, it boils down to the same thing, effort counts.

I enjoyed reading your remarks PJ. I know you are 100% correct.

Also, I agree BRATS, if we do exercise first thing in the morning, then we want find an excuse to put it off for one reason or another. I am guilty of putting mine off and sometimes the day gets busier and then I am too tired to do anything. I am going to change things this week. Maybe it was meant for me to read this tonight, so that I am motivated to get busy.

If you think of a lot of things we do,like bathing, it's because afterward, we feel better, we smell better, we feel more alive. Another thing is "pride". We choose to be our best. We're like a project, the more we put into it, the more we are satisfied with the results.
