Hi Vickie! It was great to know I made you laugh. I have been having a rough couple of weeks at work. They are talking about documenting and me having to sign stuff. I think I will take the Union rep offer next time I am so tired of fighting. I have my boss saying one thing and my coworkers being all nice implying they did nto say anything. I am so tired of it all LOL. Let me see I can retire in 17 years LOL. I think I will put my paperwork in now. LOL.
I am going to talk to someone at Employee Assistance and then I will go from there. I am joking but keeping my mouth shut from now on I have said it before but I really will now my job could be at stake, if they are trying to run me out and there is a hiring freeze man oh man LOL.

Ok, so how are things going with you? How are you doing and how is being back on the meds? I know what you mean about muscle tone and weight but I decided this past weekend I am how I am and I am going to love me and I mean it. I am tired of trying to look like what I think I should be a size that is smaller than others I am going to be me and that is it. Take me or leave me. I think we should all want to take care of ourselves but love and be gentle with ourselves too!

Vickie I hope this finds you well and in great spirits. Hope you have a great evening and a wonderful tomorrow!

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome! : ) Lorac67 your note had me both shedding a tear in sympathy and chuckling over the way you put it -- I have the same fear of becoming that 400 plus pound woman, sweating from hot flashes on the verge of wanting to punch someone out for taking my parking space! (lol)

I did go back on HRT, two days ago, after talking to my doctor and deciding it was time I slept thru the night again. One of the biggest benefits of taking HRT, in my personal experience, was that my hot flashes subsided ALOT and I was able to sleep through the night (I was taking prempro 6.25/5 mg for about a year and have just started it again). I don't know whether or not it will affect my weight -- there seems to be a lot of conflicting info about that out there -- and I know it affects people differently, but I'll be happy to let you know how I do with it while I'm trying to drop some lbs.

One thing I noticed today after work is that I have indentations on my leg from where the top of my socks hit my ankle -- lovely, I know (haha) -- but it made me wonder if menopause has also caused me to retain water and if the HRT will help with that too. I seem to remember reading it does help to retain muscle tone and although I'm no where near "toned" I'd like to keep what muscle I can so I don't turn into a weak, flabbier old lady any faster than I have to. And it would be nice if it helped my emotions from being irratic too, before I alienate everyone around me! : (

Thanks so much for your note, its good to know I'm not the only one feeling like this right now. I'll keep you posted on my progress and findings about how the HRT affects my weight loss -- and please do the same for me. If you have any tips, ideas, or just need an "aarrgghh" moment - I'd love to hear from you!

Happy Monday!
Vickie

Hi Vicki, welcome!. I am going through the same things you are. I would love to discuss this and find out more when you do. I have put on weight, I am starting the sweats, do nto sleep throught the night, the mood swings are terrible. I came here for help with weight and knowledge to get through this without killing someone and/or weighing 400 pounds or having everyone hate me. LOL, seriously :)

Hi I'm Vickie and just joined this group today -- and boy am I glad I found you! : ) I've been going thru menopause for about 2 years now and have been floored by all the changes to my body and mind as a result of it. The muffin top belly, hot flashes, insomnia, forgetfulness -- sometimes I feel like I woke up one day in a completely new body that I don't know how to control and its driving me nuts!
I joined Spark Team as part of my weight loss goal for this year, I am going to lose the 30 pounds I've gained in the last two years (ugh!) and get healthier, but I also have a lot of questions about going thru menopause and how it affects my weight as well as other aspects of my life. So its wonderful to find this group of other women going thru similar things to talk with and share tips and encouragment!
One of the big issues on my mind right now is whether or not to take HRT. I took prempro for about a year and it helped with a lot of the symptoms Ive had -- especially the freaking hot flashes! But I'm concerned that the HRT usage may be deterring my weight loss. I have been off of it for about two months and am seriously debating whether to start again or not -- I miss being able to sleep thru the night and not waking up covered in sweat. I'd like to hear from other women who have been on HRT to find out your thoughts on it...especially regarding weight and maintaining muscle tone...I've read so much conflicting information that I'm totally confused right now, and would love to hear from people that have had actual experience with it to help me make my decision whether to HRT or not???

Thanks so much and its great to be here!

Vickie
