I'm at 348 right now and my back is so out of shape I can't even walk a block. My knees are also hurting me something fierce! I try to just incorporate some movement even if it is only for 1 minute. I have a mini trampoline that I can jump on for a whole minute and a half at a time now, but I have worked up from less that a minute, so I guess anything is progress. I'm also doing standing stretches (only stand for about a minute at a time) to strengthen my obliques/core and I would like to get some hand weights to work my arm muscles. Also just making something to eat seems like a workout for me.

I have trouble with my knee wanting to go in the opposite direction. One of the things I am doing right now is walking in place at home. I can stop at any time. I also dance, I don't need to be crazy and I can use my arms more to get my heart rate up. Dancing can even be done in a chair if necessary. I have reactions to anti-inflammatories and cannot take them. I do use ice if I am having a problem.

Exercising though helps me with pain in the long run. Every pound means a lot to my knee. And I want to do more outdoors. I find that balancing pushing myself enough and not too much a real issue at times. But I am getting better at it.

Oh my, I completely understand this topic. When I started walking, I could make it for a lap - maybe - on the treadmill and quite slowly. I started adding a bit here and there with both distance and speed and just recently made it to 2 miles at 3 miles per hour (a huge accomplishment for me). I damaged my right knee five years ago and coupled with neck and spinal issues, the pain is much to take at times. If I could suggest anything to someone in pain, it would be to utilize a heating pad on the area(s) whenever possible, to take some anti-inflammatory or pain meds before and/or after exercise (as long as that is OK with your doctor), and to do something regardless of the pain. I know I will probably eventually need some surgery on my knee, but the more weight I can lose prior to that time, the better my overall outcome - and who knows, maybe as we each do lose our aches will leave or at least be less over time. I wish you much success in your endeavors, as I understand. emoticon

main thing is try to do a little bit of movement . believe me I know what pain in the legs and hips are. but I have found that if I don['t sit too long my legs do better. so I am constantly thinking of something that needs done and I get up and go for it and grit my teeth doing it. but since i started this I have been able to do more and more and the pain isnt quite as bad.just dont give up

I do wall push ups through out the day, and leg exercises in bed before I get out of it. I am not getting down on the floor and back up again.

Howdy, I am so glad that I can join forces with like bodies. Now because it is just us 300's I can feel free to say that it is a little frustrating hearing about someone who needs to lose say 20lbs!!. I know, I know it is a battle for everyone. But honestly it is just nice to have a variety of places to go here where people have the same monumental battle that I do. So cheers to us all.
Does anyone have any exercise suggestions that I can do at home that maybe a little more geared to someone my size?? I don't want to start something designed for someone smaller and in better shape and get discouraged. Thanks for being there troups
