Welcome, Laura. Sometimes 'life' really does seem to get in the way of 'living'! This is a great team for support, encouragement and information. I'm glad you joined us. Good luck.

Hi - I'm laura and new to this team - i joined sparks feb 20/09 and did pretty well - started at 190lbs and went down to 144 and now i'm back up to 160. I was working out often, on track, good goals, even did my first 5k april 09 - then injured, surgery, another semi recovery... but since nov - end nov --- slow decline. Son in Afghanistan, another son moving away too, husband out of work over 1 year; and the stress of my job - RN - and extra, extra, extra responsibilies at work - no extra hours, no pay - staying late, going in early, missing meals at work and no pay for any of this - suck it up, part of being an RN in "today" with shortages.. come home from work and feel exhausted, depressed, and unsatisfied - feel like i'm going to explode - i know i need to stop - i'm leaving all the spark teams i'm on - and focusing only on stress. Looking forward to any help and getting to the bottom of this. emoticon

emoticon Kirsten,

Glad you joined us. As you can tell this is an awesome group. It truly helps me each day to log in and post my stress level and then to be reminded that I have choices to destress (some days - LOL).

I hear you about the work stress, it sounds as though you are still working? I burned out on my and am now on disabilty with depression and other medical issues.

I look forward to getting to know you. You don't have to go this alone.

That is a great idea about the jar! I'm going to do that too! But I will have to have two, one by my fridge and one in my car.

That's a great idea, putting the suggestions in a jar and reaching for them when you need one. I'm going to borrow that idea! Thanks!!

stress is a hard one for me but i know i do it to myself. i have copied the list of ideas from the past posts and cut them and put them in as jar. when i go for food ( i am stressed) i pull one from the jar and do it instead. this has really helped me. you have done good by keeping in touch and getting back on board. best of luck with your journey

Welcome, Kirsten. It doesn't seem fair that some folks have no problem managing their streses levels while the rest of us struggle - but that's the way it is. This team has really helped me deal with some stressful situations. I'm still learning, but if you check in here often you will find a tremendous amount of support. Be sure to read everything Sheri writes - she has an amazing amount of information and really good stuff to share. Good luck!

Hi everyone,

My name is Kirsten and l live in Bellingham, WA. I used to workout 5-6 days per week without fail for about 3 years - then I got a promotion, my stress level soared, and here I am - haven't worked out in a month, have gained back all but 15 lbs of the 35 I lost. I have got to learn how to change my reactions to stress so that I stop endangering my health!
