remember to use all the trackers, read and use the articles, and dont beat yourself up if you mess up. this is a great site and there is lots of support for all of us. start slow and just change one thing at a time. i started out at 260 so doing the exercising and food was just too overwhelming i started just walking to the end of my drive and then slowly increased it each week. then i started drinking water instead of sodas. etc. hope this works for you as well as it has for me. emoticon

I'm glad you saw the light DOE. Sometimes it takes a flashback so to speak to help us see the light. Good for you for living a healthy lifestyle and not dieting. :) emoticon

i know for me just the mention of diet would be a bad thing. I have finally realise that if i didn't change my lifestyle, with exercise and portion control. i would go on the yo yo cycle. losing only to gain back when i was stressed. what was an eye opener for me was when i watched a video of myself 10 years ago. it has re motivated me to get healthy not just lose the weight.

Susan, in your post you mentioned the word diet. Remember that if we go on a diet, we have to STAY on THAT diet forever for it to work. What you are working towards is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE, and that is going to take time. And also, stop and think if either side of your family had weight issues. On both sides of my family weight has always been an issue. Look at medical issues as well. Get checked out by your doctor and have a full workup done to see if there is a medical problem causing some weight issues.
And most of all, we are not what we look like on the outside, but who we really are on the inside.
Words can cause longer lasting wounds than physical ones. Those are ones you have to work through by reading books on healing or by seeking therapy from a counselor, especially if you spend a good amount of time thinking on them.
Give yourself time, get checked by your doctor and be good to yourself, emotionally and physically. It will come; it just takes time and support.

I was once 55 pounds heavier. It is a one day at a time issue for me. I have 40 plus to go. Finding the time, then stubbornly, without much fuss or fights with others, I have managed to carve out time to exercise routinely and eat better and serve healthier meals. I feel so much better. You will too and your loved ones will benefit. My youngest is joining a cross country team and my husband has just joined spark people. They say that obesity is "contagious" and, on the flip side, healthy lifestyle can be as well.

Spent my whole life being large. My mom put me on a diet in high school, mentioning that my backside looked like the back of a bus. Still struggling with it today....the weight loss/weight gain cycle. Now an insulin-dependent diabetic, wear cpap mask to sleep to help with sleep apena, and wonder if I will ever getting my eating disorder under control. As a 47 year old mother of five, I am hoping to just to learn to enjoy eating healthy and getting exercise. My goals have gone from weight loss to gaining my muscle strength, flexibility, heathy eating habits and feeling better physically, emotionally, spiritually...but a little weight reduction would be nice to.
