Spark has teamed up with Chef Meg Galvin, if you go to sparkrecipes.com (sorry, I don't know how to add the link) you can see her introduction. I am so excited that Spark has added this.

I've been up and down on the scale but a whole lot of up. And I know what it is like to have physical problems. My knees and my back are really bad. But, I have good news, that I have worked with an eating disorder counselor, a nutritionist, and with spark people before, and I was able to improve my lean mass, and loose fat, and reduce while changing habits gradually. I started out with simple exercises that were minute. And began to exercise more. I began to take better care of my health and pay more attention to what I ate and how much I ate of it. I also started to understand my triggers for emotional eating. As well as learn what foods are binge inducing foods for me. Though all of this is a big learning process and it takes a long time for some people-like me. It is all within the realm of possibility. I still have a long way to go. Though, I don't give up hope. I tell you these things so you know that recovery from what seems like a hopeless situation is possible. I was seven when I was put on my first diet, so I know the drill. I realize it sounds cliche, however, the little sayings like baby steps, one day at time, and stay in the moment all seem to apply. Don't be too hard on yourself. Great going for taking the first steps!!!

Spent my whole life being large. My mom put me on a diet in high school, mentioning that my backside looked like the back of a bus. Still struggling with it today....the weight loss/weight gain cycle. Now an insulin-dependent diabetic, wear cpap mask to sleep to help with sleep apena, and wonder if I will ever getting my eating disorder under control. As a 47 year old mother of five, I am hoping to just to learn to enjoy eating healthy and getting exercise. My goals have gone from weight loss to gaining my muscle strength, flexibility, heathy eating habits and feeling better physically, emotionally, spiritually...but a little weight reduction would be nice to.
