Hi, Garden. emoticon to SparkPeople and the team!

If you haven't already, it's helpful to read through the Getting Started Guide. Click on My Tools at the top of this page, then Start. The guide is at the top of the page. It will help you set up your Spark page and provide lots of info for getting started. It's especially helpful to use the Nutrition and Fitness Trackers.

emoticon on the progress you've made in lifestyle changes! Another really helpful stress buster is to stop and deep breathe for a couple of minutes ~ especially helpful before you reach for the snacks!

All the best on your journey to better health!

I found that getting out of the office and going for a walk was crucial on those high stress days, even if "lunch" only lasted 15 minutes and it was 104 degrees outside! I do like the idea of the snack box decorated with inspirational messages - I'll implement that when school starts again.

My inspiration for 2011 -

"If we could learn how to balance rest against effort, calmness against strain, quiet against turmoil, we would assure ourselves of joy in living and psychological health for life. " Josephine Rathbone

Good for you. I've found that having healthy snacks in my "cave" keeps me away from the vending machines. Plus, we have an internal messenger system that allows us to sit at our desk and "talk" to others in the office.

I no longer use that system, instead get up off my tush and walk to the other person's cube and talk to them....

sounds like a great plan. be sure to take good snacks also. i keep one drawer ( a friend has a shoe box decorated in inspirational messages) and we keep good snacks for when nothing else is working. also helps when that wonderful skinny co-worker brings in donuts or candy. love them. emoticon

Hello! I joined SparkPeople a week ago to support my weightloss efforts. I joined this team because I finally realize that stress at work is my biggest weightloss road block. (During this economic struggle we've downsized, lost some hours, lost benefits) So I'm finding ways to combat the stress and not turn to the vending machine at 3pm. Last week I started doing the "Boxing" exercise (found on the exercise page) several times a day in my office. It's a good way to stretch your back and shoulders after sitting and relieve some stress before a meeting or difficult phone call.
