I am reading TONS of PCOS books and the diet plans are swirling in my head!

To combat the confusion, I have been following the Readers Digest Change One diet as closely as possible and eating the low G.I. foods. I feel more energy. My sugar cravings have seriously gotten better and I feel more in control.

I usually have: Fiber One Honey Nut Clusters w/skim milk, 1/2 not quite ripe banana, 4 oz. orange juice and a cup of hot oolong tea. Lunch is usually a frozen meal that fits in my calorie requirements or leftovers from the night before. My evening meal is just smaller portions of what I feed the family. I am trying to limit myself to two snacks a day. I have a handful of nuts such as almonds and walnuts a day. I drink up to three cups of oolong tea because I have read it can help with your metabolism.

I take my metformin three times a day and a daily weight control vitamin that is heavy on the "B" vitamins. It helps my energy.

I also use a small salad size plate for my meals. It is good portion control as long as I don't go back for seconds!

With PCOS it is best to return your diet to the most natural state that you can. I eat 4-6 veggies per day (only avoiding potatoes), 2-3 fruits (usually one of those fruits is 100% fruit juice with no sugar added), It is best to purchase fresh fruits and veggies but if you cannot then frozen is second best - canned NOT good. I eat lean meats (fish, turkey, chicken, lean red meats) I avoid: sugar, flours, pastas, deep fried/battered foods and all prepackaged or processed foods.

Always challenge yourself!

Personally, I follow a similar 'diet' to Sweetorange, but I do eat the starchy vegetables, especially peas and carrots, instead of the bread. That way I'm less tempted to eat the high sugarry jams, jellies and spreads. I hate eating bread/toast without it drippping in butter, but I do like the taste of lightly steamed peas and carrots.

The perfect diet for me is to eat only once slice of brown bread, 4-6 servings of veggies, 3 servings of fruits, 1 cup of milk , 2 servings of cheese, 200gm of chicken or veal or fish or tuna or 2 eggs
and v important 8 cups of water & I drink hot mint and green tea with mint daily

also cinnamon is good to control the insulin level in blood.

& do Yoga at least 10min per day or stretching
& strength training 3 days per week
cardio training at least 3 days per week 30min each time

Good luck emoticon

What I need is your diet plan. I have all these books about PCOS that give these stupid numbers don't eat this much sugar, eat this much protein stay under this glycemic index...rubbish!! Tell me what you are eating at what times of day and how much of eat you are eating. I want to follow you for a while until I get a hang of it, and am able to do it own. I want to do my grocery shopping this evening. So hopefully I'll have a good variety by then. Thank you.
