Thanks! I completely understand what you're talking about with the weight loss! My family are extremely healthy eaters and I've worked out since middle school, so I didn't understand why I wasn't losing the weight. I believe some of my other family could possibly have PCOS also. I hope I am finally able to get all my medical issues regulated!

We are glad that you are here. PCOS does seem to be a real problem when it comes to weight loss. I did not get diagnosed with it until I was 30. I had noticed that it seemed to be twice as difficult for me to lose weight than it was for the people around me. When I began to read up on pcos, I realized that my grandmother had had it also. She complained that she was heavy all of here life even though she worked a farm. She was always busy and ate no more than the average person but she was heavy. I wish she had lived during a time then pcos was better understood and could be treated. Anyway, I have found that Metformin seemed to keep me from gaining more weight but in and of itself did not help me lose weight. It will affect every body differently and so I hope that in addition to healthy eating and exercise, you have wonderful weight loss on the Metformin!

Hi all! I've only joined spark people a couple of weeks ago and hope that it will help me with getting healthier and losing weight. I've had they symptoms of PCOS for, what I feel like, most of my life. I just turned twenty last week and was officially diagnosed with PCOS several weeks ago. I also have several other medical issues including acid reflux, high cholesterol, and hypothyroid. I have had a difficult time getting diagnosed and hope that the PCOS is the last medical issue that I have. I started metforman a couple of weeks ago and so far I am hopeful that it will make a huge difference. I've had an extremely hard time losing weight since I was younger and have also had trouble with my period, which I hope Metforman will help. I hope that this team will help and look forward to hearing from everyone!!
