Hi there and welcome! I used to have ankle pain walking on a home treadmill, but when I joined the local Anytime Fitness, I don't anymore. Their treadmills have a shock absorber.

I can't be on my feet for too long or I have leg cramps that mess up after I go to bed.

I do exercises on a mat on the floor.

I get ankle pain from simply walking if I tie my shoelaces too tight. You'd think firmly attached shoes are important when walking but it turns out, not so much.

If I keep mine loose enough that I can slip them off with out untying them (very handy at airport security screening time), I don't get pain. If I make them tighter, I get horrible pain across the top of my instep just in front of and between the ankle bones. I only tighten them if I'm doing an exercise that might make me slip out of my shoes, like the plank.

o__o ouch...I'm sorry about your foot. And I thought mine hurt lol

There is an athletic store near my home, I'm sure they should have what I need, if not I think they have a similar heat sensing thing at Walmart? I'm pretty sure I heard about that :P

Thank you, and again, sorry about your foot!

My feet roll in,too. I also have pretty flat feet, and I broke one of my feet and ripped 5 ligaments in it.

As far as where did I get my orthotics: I just read the info on the orthotics at the drug store - and found ones that were for pronaters with flat feet. The ones I got said sport on them, too. I've looked for these particular ones recently and haven't found the exact ones.

I have also gone in to running stores and had the people there watch my feet when I walk and run and gotten advice from them on the type of shoes are most helpful for my feet. And there is one of those Walking Shoe Stores at a nearby mall where I have gone and stepped onto this pad that senses heat and shows you how your weight is distributed over your feet - they sell pretty expensive orthotics at that place, I haven't bought any of those though because the ones I have work for me.

I would love to run outside, whenever I get a chance to its always much more enjoyable. But, unfortunately, I've had some scary experiences with the area I live in, and whenever I have time to run, I have to do so alone -_-

I agree with you though, I think I'll look for a safer place to run, even if it is futher away.

Thank you very much, I'm feeling pretty good about it ^_^

I'm think my feet roll in, I've thought that for a while now, and have also been considering orthotics.
Where do you get yours? If you don't mind my asking :P

Aloha and welcome! Congratulations on the 10 lb lose - that is great! I don't have the ankle problem you are describing, but just to throw something out there - do you pronate (roll in) or supinate (your feet roll out)? You can always look at some shoes you've worn for awhile to tell if you have the tendency to roll one way or the other. If you do, perhaps some orthotics would help? Dr. Scholl's makes some for sports - that I use in my workout shoes and I find them very helpful.

Happy walking! And I hope you figure out a way to prevent ankle pain!

I usually stay away from tred mills. I'd rather walk outside, I tend to slap my feet while walking on them. Could this be your problem?

Good luck and welcome to the team.

lose 30 pounds. My original goal was 40, and I've lost 10 by simply altering my diet. So I suppose I'm well on my way.

I have question though.
Does anyone else have ankle pain while simply walking on a treadmill?
If so, how do you cope/get rid of it?

Its really hindering me and I can't seem to fix it.

Thank you and good luck with all of your goals ^____^
