I bought my Mom a magnifier last Christmas--and she loves it!! She almost has like her own library of coloring books--birds/flowers, designs, quotes, etc. And every time we go shopping, if either one of us sees books with larger designs and not too pricey--in the cart they go. She has trouble sleeping at night alot of times, so she grabs one of her books and works on a page--great stress reliever and something that really can take the focus off things that are on our minds.

I know they have those magnifiers and I had seen an expensive one at a yard sale for $15 and I talked myself out of it, but since I have really regretted it and will need to invest into something more than my small one. Her mother had used it for fine embroidery. I was at a thrift shop today and going through the boxes of books, I found about six coloring books, but passed on them as I still have several. There are so many videos on YouTube that show all types of techniques, as many of these people are professional artists and they take it to extremes, but they do have some valuable tips.

Bought my Mom a few new books this year for Christmas--she is totally into them. But also bought her a magnifier with a strap that can be worn like a headband and can be used along with her regular glasses. She's been having more problems with her eyes--and I'm hoping this magnifier can keep her going and coloring the beautiful pics that she does. A true stress reliever for her!!!

I love them! They are really good for reliving stress and my anxiety attacks as well.

I'm back to working on my coloring books since I broke my femur in June and have been having Physical therapy. I found a video on Youtube that was helpful in that she said she took a light color and went over a large area and used it as the background so she didn't have to fill in all the tiny spaces when she got nearly finished. I tried this on a picture of a cat where I used light yellow on the head, light green on the front legs, light gold on the middle, light lavender on the back legs and light pink on the tail, and then I colored with markers and gel pens over the areas again as I wanted. Worked really well when I got to the end like she said as I didn't have to then try to fill in tiny spaces. Cat turned out great. I'll try to post a picture of it here on the team photos.

I have several pages started as I find it more relaxing to just work on what I feel like on that day. It has taken me about 4 months to completely finish the first page of "wheels" that I started. I remember in my college art appreciation class the teacher telling us "All great artists worked on several projects at a time, as when they got frustrated they'd stop and give it a rest and do something else."

There are a lot of good videos on "YouTube" on how to color easily. I even found a channel by an artist who has her books on AMAZON. I did learn some "tips" on how to sharpen pencils and trimming them with a razor blade.

my daughter got me one for Christmas that I love. I also enjoy just getting out the crayons and coloring books with my granddaughter.

God grant me the serenity to change the things I can, to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I started coloring a few months ago. It can be slow-going but it also helps to focus on something other than the stress of the day. emoticon

I found a marked-down kit after Christmas with 6 coloring books, pencils, etc. and bought it for $9.95. Since I have found markers, gel pens, and several other different coloring books to add to my collection. It is slow going, as I've only finished one complete page of "wheels" but I do it when I'm watching my GC, like the other day at the park. I find it very relaxing and a type of mediation.
Have you tried it?

Yes, I know I'll die with unfinished coloring book pages, but I think it is good for my eyesight and finger control. (For small areas I have found using my magnifying glass to help relieve eye strain.)
