I rode my stationary bike for 45 minutes today.

Thanks so much for your original post. I just started SP recently, and I am in the same boat as you. Starting from below zero, and having to face the harsh truths that my body confronts me with. ten minutes sounds doable, I do at least that walking the dog anyway, and i can look up some of these suggestions here for myself. Thanks for your courage and keep it up!

That was so cool that you took those extra pizzas over to the nuns! I know that they did act like they had won the lottery! I wonder how many other people have done such a selfless act for the ladies that do so much, in the area they are in. The extra pizzas I had left, I took down the road from me where they have a retreat house that is staffed by some Phillipino nuns. Most are over 60. So I took the pizzas to them and they thought that someone delivered prime rib to them. Decided to do a good deed! My wife and I enjoyed ours! Still have 1/2 left. Could be lunch today!

I made enough for three pizzas, and the crust smells so good! First time I did this and it turned out okay. I will make two more, as I made too much dough and I will freeze them, for when my son and DIL come in town this weekend. Who needs a Pizza Hut!

I'm delighted to see that you're doing this training correct this time. You're so right, you can easily hurt yourself, and then you would be on a medical detour, and I know you don't want that and neither do I. So good for you, taking it slow and easy! Just continue with your baby steps, as they get you to the goals you laid out, faster than anything! It was very cold and windy here this AM, when the transportation service came and picked me up to go to the VA. I sure was glad to get in that warm van.

Good morning everyone! I wanted to tell you all that I have managed to do my 10 minute cardio along with other strength training and stretching for 3 days in a row now! Getting through it! Still can't believe that I am starting at this level but I'm going to do it right this time and NOT hurt myself. It is very cold and windy here in NH and there was ice on the roads to work this morning. A real nail biter. That pizza and homemade crust sounds wonderful! :)

Very cold here as well. I was away for 5 days so perfect day to catch up on emails and bills and such. Do have to go out to the store later. I have a lot of mozzerella chees to use up before it goes bad, so it is homemade pizza today. I will make the crust from scratch with my bread machine, so should be fun!

You have the right idea here! You said, "I'm going to try to do something every day no matter how little." That's all it is! It's baby steps, and they do honestly get you to your goal! When you're talking on the phone, walk! don't just sit there. March in place when you see a TV commercial. You'll be surprised how these little baby step things will help and encourage you!

Thank you all SO much! It is nice to have the support and suggestions. I like the pool idea too. I may have a pool right down the street from my work that I could visit after work. Hi don't give up. I am 75 with dodgy knees and I still made it. Try Nicoles seated resistance band video. It took me ages to get it altogether so Hang in there.

Good morning, I'm a new member to Sparkpeople. I joined in October and have been learning the ropes every since. I feel like I've concurred the tracking and feel real good about my choices there. But...through trail and error I have found that at 56 I am incredibly out of shape and have knee and one hip issues. Everything I've tried for exercise I've either fumble through, because I can't walk and chew gum at the same time or it hurts a part of my body. It has been very discouraging and has set me back quit a bit. I just found and accomplished the 11 minute seated cardio and have had to really accept my limitations, scale it back and be satisfied with what I CAN do. I've done a full circle here. I'm back to 10 minutes on my treadmill to warm up for stretching and one sitting cardio video a day and will move slowly up from there. I think now that I've accepted that, I might get somewhere. It has made me a bit sad but at the same time somewhere to start. Any exercise programs for this level to keep it interesting are welcome. Thanks for listening! :)
