LisaJoy, Welcome to SP! And to our Team! I have been offline for the last couple of weeks, so I'm sorry I am late in welcoming you.

SparkPeople has changed my life. I've made so much progress in the last 3 months: mostly getting moving with baby steps. I was sooo sedentary. Now I am riding a bike, walking, weight training, rollerblading, swimming, etc! I've lost weight and my blood pressure is markedly down.

Mostly, I feel fantastic most of the time.

I was told when I got here to take baby steps. I was told to focus on functional fitness. I was told to participate online consistently. I was told to post and make connections with other SPeople.

I've tried to do that, one small step at a time. I also track my food and exercise every day. That has been soooo helpful. Tracking and just moving my body have changed my life and I'm starting to build healthy and fit habits. I still have a long way to go, but I am so grateful for this Team and for SparkPeople.

Welcome to our Team, and to Spark People!!!

How's it going today?

Hi everyone! I am a 33 wife and at-home mom to 3 kids (8, 6 and 14 months). I never really paid a lot of attention to what I ate in high school and college, and I was about 15 pounds over my ideal weight when I got pregnant with our first daughter about 1 month after our wedding. I gained about 70 pounds with the pregnancy. I lost some of that, but still had a lot left when I got pregnant with our second. I gained very little with the second and third pregnancies and lost most of that pretty quickly. However, I still have about 80 pounds to lose to get me to my goal weight. I am brand new here at SP and excited to really commit to becoming healthy and setting a positive example for our kids! :)

Shelly, Welcome to the group! I've been a stay-at-home mom now for about 16 years, and over the last 6 or so had really 'let myself go'. I've found SP and this group very helpful in keeping me focused on what my goal is for me: getting fit! Congratulations on losing the 16.1 lbs in May!!! That's fantastic. Are you tracking your food or exercise? I do, and it's helped me a lot.

Welcome! Cindy

Hi Maria,

I'm back on SP as well after having my second child. Very similar background. Gained about 50 pounds after getting married and found out I had Hypothyroid. I then gained 70 pounds with my first child, being lazy and eating EVERYTHING! Using it as an excuse to eat. I was very active in H.S. and thought it was my way out not needing to watch my diet and go to the gym. BIG mistake. I struggled to lose 30 of those 70 pounds then got pregnant with baby number 2. Only gained 35 pounds this time and lost 26 so far. Baby is two months old and I would like to lose the rest of the weight in one year. I miss my old self very much and hope to find good friends through this process.

Welcome back to SP! I too was a member years ago and didn't have much success. I have been active again since May 09 and have had great results. For me the big difference was being diligent with the tracking food and fitness but more importantly was joining some teams (and getting active on those teams) and finding some GREAT Spark Friends. They hold you accountable, pick you up when you are down and need support, and cheer you on when you have success.

Good Luck with your goals! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi, I'm Maria a 31 yr old stay-at-home-mom of a 4yr old girl & 2 yr old boy.

This is actually my second attempt at Spark People (although I really didn't follow the program that well the first time).

Growing up I was usually the smallest kid in class, but during college I put on about 10lbs (still looked good, but lost some of muscle mass I had in high school). Then I moved in with my husband & I gained 50lbs before I even had kids.

After having two kids & developing hypothyroidism, I am about 65lbs away from my goal weight. I am working at making permanent changes in the way I look at food/eating and becoming that active person I was as a teenager & early college.

On Jan 12th I did group weight loss hypnosis to help get my mind in the proper place to make the changes necessary to become fit & healthy. This has made a world of difference in helping me stick to my new healthier lifestyle. I still have days were I eat too much or aren't active enough, but I don't give up & I remember tomorrow is another day to make better choices.
