Welcome Skylark. I live on a farmstead, too, and can realy relate to having a huge yard to keep up. So far this year, I've only been able to mow once. It's either blowing 50-60 mph, or it's storming or raining and the grass is too wet, or, as I can't be in the sun, way too sunny and hot for me. I need no sun and temps around 65 to 70. I even bought two new mowers this year!!!!! I'm still hoping to be able to get it done in September or October, when it cools down. In the meantime, it's at least thigh high. My only other option is to hire someone to do it, but everyone is busy, either in the fields or canning or whatever. Keeping the yard (2.5 acres) mowed and burning garbage are my two big problems out here. Won't burn when the wind is blowing, which seems to be all the time. The joys of country living in North Dakota. Hope to chat with you again. Barbara (aka klassicalkats2)

Hi, Klassicalkats2. I'm new to this site, too,and don't know my way around but every day, I learn a little more. I don't have the time in summer as we live in the country and have a huge yard to keep up.
I was so glad to find a forum, just for ND people! I didn't expect to. I would like to lose about 10 lbs. (I'll settle for 10, that is). Well good luck to you and welcome.

You're right, there is a ton of information on this site. I'm not very good with electronics either, but can find my way around sparks pretty well. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask. If I can't help, someone will. Must be everybody is outside enjoying this gorgeous day today as the room is exceedingly quiet today. I live in Mandan. It would be fun to meet. A lady I got to know 3 years ago on here (from New Mexico) was passing through the state, and I got to meet her last fall. She's quite a sweetie and we've really enjoyed the connection on here. Amazing what good friends you can make with these electronics that befuddle us sometimes. How have you been doing with posting your food intake and exercise?

Hi there. Thanks for your note. I've joined the depression group, and the over 50 group with 40 or more pounds to lose, and I've seen a reference to one for "bookworms" but I've not been able to find it in the list of teams. I love books and talking about them, so that one sounds like a good one for me. Maybe it's been deleted because no-one joined. There is so much information on this site, and I'm such a dummy when it comes to anything electronic. Anyway, I hope we can stay in touch, maybe meet some day. Which end of the state do you live in?

Welcome, Barbara. I can so relate to your story. We grew up with good old...German in my case...comfort food and it's hard to set that aside. Each day is a new day to change those old habits. I, too, have 40 lbs to lose. Good luck to you. Have you joined any of the other "interest" teams yet? There are soooo many to pick from.

Hello, Nodaks. I live a few miles north of Tower City and I sure would like to get to know the other teamers--and maybe one day get together. Somehow or other I've gotten signed up as two different people. First signed on as klassicalkats1, but I wasn't receiving any input from SparkPeople so assumed I wasn't in the system. So now I've signed up as klassicalkats2 and I think I've done it right this time!!!
Anyway, I'm glad to see some others lurking here who are from North Dakota. I don't know about you all, but when I was growing up no-one thought twice about frying everything, and so many wonderful, delicious lunches while visiting friends. And oh how I loved my grandmother' homemade bread and other baked goods. Set my eating habits for life. Well, now it's a different story and we have a better idea of what's bad for us. I finally wised up and am trying to take much better care of myself, although it's tough staying away from bread!!!! And noodles!!! I have 40 pounds to get rid of and I'm hoping with all the support from team-mates and other Spark People resources that I can do it. Not looking for a model's figure, just want to have better health. Good luck to all of you. Barbara
