Like Cheryl said, be sure to use the spark tools ... the nutrition and fitness trackers are wonderful. You can use the nutrition tracker to plan your meals to be sure you get a good balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. You can either follow the recommended menu or turn off the menu suggestions and fill in our own foods. Check out the spark recipes for new ways to prepare old favorites, maybe with fewer calories.

The fitness tracker will show you how many calories you have burned. If you don't have a strength training program and aren't sure where to start with one Spark People will set one up for you. You can click on the recommended exercises and see a demonstration on how to do them.

Read the spark articles too. They cover a variety of subjects such as nutrition, exercise, motivation, breaking through plateaus and finances. There is a lot of very helpful information here and it will take you some time to get through it all. Don't try to do everything at once. Change a few habits at a time. Set small goals; you'll be motivated by achieving them and that will help you push on to bigger and better things.
