Welcome Hindsight2020 - Like everyone else, I agree the Nutrition tracker is one of the best tools for me. It is very easy to use and you can find things there we almost wouldn't think about. And I like that I can add in things that aren't on there already also you can figure out calories on some of your own recipes.

Keep working at it.

emoticon HindSight2020 ... emoticon to Spark People and the Spark North Dakota team. It's nice to have you with us.

The nutrition tracker IS a REAL eye opener. Before coming to Spark People I had a two trip a day Starbucks habit. Not only did I order a Venti Chai Tea Latte on each trip I also ordered a breakfast goodie every morning and a pastry every afternoon. I was shocked when I looked up the nutrition information on the Starbucks web site so I could add the stuff to the nutrition tracker ... over 3000 calories! Throw in a double bacon cheeseburger combo with fries and a diet coke (who was I kidding?) from Wendy's for lunch every day and it's no wonder I was obese!

As you said, snacks, toppings and condiments can add a lot of calories ... calories most people don't even think about as they are consuming them. The nutrition tracker makes you aware of just how many calories you're eating and helps hold you accountable.

Welcome to the ND sparks team. I agree with you...it is so eye-opening once we start tracking all the little extras in our daily calories. Hopefully we can knock off a few pounds as we continue to be alert to those kinds of things, as well as to little ways we can add exercise to our days.

Hi folks,
I joined Sparkpeople.com to help me be more aware of the health choices I make. While I would like to weigh less, I'm much more concerned about getting fit and toned as well as eating well. Before I joined Sparkpeople I could go days without eating a fruit or vegetable, and it was almost as if I was shoehorning calories into my diet every place I could -- snacks, toppings and condiments have probably contributed 300 calories or more every day! I love how easy it is to keep track of what I'm eating -- and it's eye-opening.
Best wishes to all!
