emoticon This site will help you to track the carbs. I have never been able to stick with a low carb diet but tracking food on SP has been easy and I am able to keep my food intake balanced and just sticking to lower calories in than calories out has been my most successful plan. Wishing you success with your goals!

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4.

I started a low-carb diet. It is hard to stick with but needed. I am a mom of four small children, I homeschool 2 of them and I am finishing my bachelors degree. Busy, busy, busy!!

I'm on the Living Low Carb team and there is tons of great advice on there. I also follow several low carb blogs online. Which kind of low carb diet are you on (Atkins, Paleo, Primal, etc)? I am doing one that is lesser known called Dr. Rossdale's. But so far I have been very successful on it after years of yo-yo dieting. Feel free to private message me if you have any questions!

Hi There!
Just want to throw a few things out to you!
First, are you a diabetic? If yes, then you need to follow your doctor's recommendation!
If not, then, I'll ask this: Can you live on a Low Carb Diet for the rest of your life?
Because, if you do not stay with this plan, for the rest of your life, then you will gain back the weight!

I suggest that you find the Nutrition Tracker on SP, or a person who can give you advice on a Balanced macro-nutrient diet! This means, that your Protein, Carbs and Fat intakes are in line with the weight you're trying to lose. Also, being on a restricted diet, Calories under 1200, for over 2 weeks, will cause you to STOP losing, and store everything you eat. This happens because your body thinks it's going into a starvation mode! This is where you NEED to INCREASE your intake, NOT DECREASE it! (Just going through this myself!)

I am currently working with a Personal Trainer, as well as studying for my National Accreditation for Personal Training. I have 5 other certs, including Senior Fitness and Nutrition.

And, another major thing that people do not realize, strength train!!!! Build muscle! Muscle needs more calories than fat to sustain itself! Also, muscle is SMALL than fat....Myth: Muscle weighs more than fat! FACT: A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of FAT...it just takes up less space! Think about it! How much does a pound of feathers and an pound of rocks weigh??? Which takes up more space?!?!

Anyway, enough rambling! Set up your Nutrition goals on Spark People! TRACK EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth....even that 1 tootsie roll, or 5 M&M's! It will make a difference!

Good luck!
Trish

Hi and welcome to the team!
emoticon emoticon emoticon

I don't specifically eat low-carb, but definitely need to lower my carb intake due to health issues. I just checked and SparkPeople has a low-carb team. I might check it out.
