Hi, JAB!
I'm not new to Spark. I've been around for too many years, without doing something about my health!
What I've found, is that 90% of exercise/weight loss, is mental! You HAVE to be in the right mental frame, in order to succeed! If you go into this half-hearted, you will not see any results! Your mind has to be stronger than your body! One of my favorite quotes is "Your body won't go where your mind won't take it!"
First thing to do is to prepare your mind to KNOW that you're going to succeed! If you get this drilled in, you WILL accomplish your goals!
I just started back working out at the end of June. I felt fat, weak and unhealthy! After a month, I had only lost 3 lbs! BUT, I lost 8 INCHES! Still feeling like I didn't do enough, I changed my diet! By cutting out most refined sugars, and unhealthy carbs, (and of course, junk food!), I'm down into a size 8 jeans! I have about 6 more pounds to reach my first "final" weight goal of 145. But, My mind is now in charge, and I WILL succeed!
You CAN do it! Just keep your mind over your body! Keep going! It takes 21 days to create a new habit! Once you start working out, and FEELING the difference, you won't want to STOP!!

Hi, I'm new to Spark, and I would like to lose about 55 pounds. I have been overweight for over 21 years. I have already lost 14 pounds in the last 3 months just by using my treadmill 5 - 6 days a week. My goal is to lose 55 more pounds by the time my daughter graduates from college next year. I could really use the support and make new friends.
