Had lost over 40 lbs., regained 16. This is my secret. Not. lol
Anyway, daughter began walking program yesterday and I've stepped up.

Good morning everyone,

I'm back! I tried SP a few years ago, and I'm struggling with depression amongst other health problems right now so thought it might help get me going emotionally and consequently, physically.

Hi all -

I used to be a part of this group a few years ago. Back then, I had a lot less weight to lose and was running 25-30 miles a week, eating clean, and leading a healthy lifestyle.

Fast forward to today...

At a recent annual physical, I was lamenting about the symptoms of perimenopause, including the weight gain around my mid-section. My doctor said "Guess how much you weighed when you first came to see me a few years ago?"

The answer? I weighed 35 lbs. less than I do today.

While being over 40 definitely makes it harder to lose weight, I can't exactly blame perimenopause for my expanding waistline. The truth is ... after some major personal setbacks a few years ago, I drowned my sorrows in too much of the foods I shouldn't be eating and I didn't work out. I strayed from the active lifestyle and healthy eating habits that had been a part of my entire life. Period. End of story.

Wow. It feels good to come clean on that. I've sort of been in denial about that for a while. emoticon

So, I'm back now and feeling motivated. I'm a bit of a fashionista (or was, when I was healthier), so I'm using getting back into cute fall clothes as a motivation.

I know from experience that being a member of SparkPeople and its communities make it easier to make progress when you have others to support and hold you accountable. I'm happy to be back!
