PS I also, love to cook and spend way too much time in the kitchen. Friends call me "The Kitchen Lady". I cook from scratch and it does take time to prepare lots of vegetables, fruits and healthy meals. Baking is almost a hobby with me and I have learned to share what I make as DH and I can't eat it all.
In 6 months of summer I cook for 8 of us and our son's family eats gluten free. He and his wife can/do eat off that program but three kids are kept strictly on GF. Two are teenagers and the best eater is almost 12. I am proud that they have learned to eat lots of fruits and veggies via my cooking. They get excited with a whole head of cauliflower and the youngest loves Brussel Sprouts. (just like his grandpa)
Cooking is a therapy for me!

SP is the first successful program I have found in my more than 63 years of "dieting" and have actually kept the weight off for about 4 years. Only time I gained a few lbs. was when I had broken foot and I just can't seem to get back where I was. But I will succeed - and so will you!

Hi. I'm April and I've been dieting half my life. I'm a 57 yr old grandmother and retired Marine. This is the second time I've joined sparkpeople. I can lose weight I just can't keep it off. Along with retirement comes health issues that affect my activity capabilities. I have severe spinal stynosis which is currently preventing much physical exercise. I've found some exercises that may work for me but could use any suggestions. I'm not only an emotional eater but I love to cook and spend way to much time in my kitchen but that's my comfort zone. I'm really looking forward to getting back in control of my eating habits.

Free will is the will to change and God gives us the strenght to make those changes to better our lives. Praise to him for the wonderful life he has blessed me with.
