I would start small, don't try to keep up with too many teams & allow it to consume your workout times as those will be important in reaching your goal. Maybe start with a couple of teams & then work from there as you feel you have the time.

Thank you for sharing that pledge. It is definately inspirational. Congrats on reaching your goal and for sticking to it to maintain! I will be taking some team challenges, but I worry that I may have joined too many teams already. Any recommendations on how many to belong to for optimal results? I've been responding to team threads for thirty mintues so far and still have several more to check. I certainly can't spend this much time on this daily if my goal is to start exercising every day. I can see how this could become another detail in my day that will take up time that I should be using to exercise. Although I'm thinking that perhaps I should allot a certain amount of time a day to this and that's it. Maybe I should also only log on at night after the kids are in bed going forward.
I appreciate the tip on the exercises as well. I have a sore throat and headache that wont go away. I think i'm going to have to see a doctor...

Thank you for the tips and encouragement! Drinking 8 cups of water has been an ongoing challenge for me for a long time as well. I never really feel thirsty and have to make an effort to remember to drink something... even when I am eating. Eating properly is also going to be a challenge. We only have $130 a month to spend on food for a family of four. And my fiance always has a sweet tooth. If I can get him onboard it would be a lot less challenging. Although fresh fruits and vegies are out of the question due to the cost... I am going to make more vegan meals using frozen vegies and frozen fruits as often as I can. I just dont know how to get away from some of the boxed meals we often have, because they are cheap and often the only thing I've found I can afford to buy. And I always feel hungry even after I eat that stuff. Something has to be done differently. I am going to look at the recipes on this site and see what I can find that looks like it might fit into our budget. Hopefully I will land a job soon and will be able to spend more on eating better. But for now, I can focus on other things... like getting that water down each day. Thanks again!

Your story is like mine as well. I've struggled since the birth of my oldest daughter (now 25) with my weight. I would lose a few & then gain them + more back. It's only since joining spark & taking part of this lifelong journey that I'm seeing that I can lose & keep it off.
Just make sure to take part in your team challenges & the trackers & make simple changes to your daily rountine, starting with increasing water to 8 cups a day & making your meals properly balanced of protein & carbs.
Just let us know if we can help.

Your story of losing and gaining sounds like mine for more than 60 years. Then I stumbled across SP, Joined more than 4 years ago, lost 50 lbs. in just over one year. I am not thin, but thinner than I was. and at the age of 76 I am wrinkled enough!!! lol
Use the tracker for nutrition and exercise. I still find this necessary for maintaining.
Join teams, make friends and get on the threads. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
While you are not feeling well, do little things that you can do while sitting. There are exercises many people do when they can't be very physically active. Look on the exercise articles for them.
Holler if I can be of any help!!!

Hello- just posting to introduce myself. I joined today... although may not have been good timing. I feel like I may be coming down with something. I have set my all my goals and started entering measurements and today's nutritional info. I think exercise will have to wait until I'm feeling a little better though. I am hoping to find support on here and maybe a few folks that I can help support as well. I am 35 yr old mother of two trying to loose about 50 lbs. Used to be trying to loose 40, but I've gain 10 lbs over the past 9 months, then I lost them, then I gained them back again. Normally when I try to loose weight, I loose 5 to 10 lbs and end up letting my self indulge too much and end up gaining it back. I find it difficult to resist the temptation to eat when others are eating... even if I'm not hungry. I also sometimes eat to make myself feel better if I am feeling really depressed or stressed out. I know that in the long run I am going to make myself feel worse... but telling myself that doesn't seem to help. I hope that putting myself out here online will help me with accountability and motivation. I've been thinking about taking fenphedrine, as I've got two bottles of it sitting here but I worry about other health risks... I don't want to damage my heart. I find that when I'm only loosing one to two pounds a week and I feel like I've deprived myself of enough yummy calories that I should of lost at least five pounds... I get very frustrated and depressed and end up telling myself that all that work for one pound isn't worth it and I would have been better off to have enjoyed that cake and those cookies or that pasta and I end up quitting. So would appreciate any words of wisdom on self-motivation or positive messages I can keep in mind for encouragement, or anything like this that has worked for anyone else.
Many Thanks!
