Welcome EV! emoticon emoticon emoticon

You're doing really good with setting "obtainable" goals. Keep them small then gradually increase them. Don't forget to drink lots of water.

I started my weight loss out by walking. It really works! I have lost over 60 pounds thanks to this site and all the friends I have met here!

We are all here trying to do the same thing as you. Lose weight and get healthy. That is the main goal.

Good luck on your weight loss journey. You can do this!

~Paulette :) Fernley, NV-USA

~NEVER GIVE UP! Because to give up, is like giving in, and to give in, is like quitting and Winners never quit!

I, Paulette, pledge to do everything in my power to become healthier. I will watch the quality and quantity of my food. It will not be easy. I will be tempted. I will not make excuses. BUT, I will stay strong and continue to be focused because I deserve to be skinny and I am worth the work!

I'm a school principal and am home for a month or more in the summer. I didn't go out of my house except to buy ice cream, berry pies, and key lime pie and didn't have the energy to do anything. When my anti-depressant medication ran out I decided I was going to stop taking anything and just try diet and exercise because I was still pretty depressed. That was Aug 7. So far it is working. For me I am manic - but this is how I imagine everyone else is all the time. I started logging my food on a tracking program and my daughter suggested I check out SparkPeople. I am trying to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and protein. I'm seeing how no grains, no dairy, and no sugar goes. I love it and am excited that I want to really give SparkPeople a try and see if community will help me stay on track. I also set a goal of 15 minutes of exercise (treadmill) 3 times a week. So far I am doing great with my food and exceeding my goals for exercise. My secondary goal is to keep everything going for at least 28 days - hoping that will be enough to set a new habit.
