Thank you Zipitub.

It is one of the strangest diseases. Not one person is alike, but at the same time we are. Many react differently to different treatments and even diet.
Yesterday I was n a beauty supply store and the lady waiting on me had MS and she functioned very well, even though it was very apparent. We had a nice chat. I admired her working and doing well. She had been following a very strict planted based diet and was having success with it. She was still taking meds, which I am not. I feel very badly for people that do not react from diet alone. But there are new break throughs all the time. A doctor in Europe is doing a type of brain surgery and has 75% success so far. This is very promising.

Dr. Terry Wahls has a method that seems to work, I did Keto and found great relief. But I truly believe what actually helped me was a very pure and clean diet, with more high nutrient dense foods. But I first had to deal with absorption and as well the MS deciding what area it was going to pursue and try and deal with all of that. The longer I worked at it the better I became. I do still have issues and of course there is no cure. But I am symptom free most days. I truly as well believe coconut oil has helped. I may never lose another pound because of it, but I am walking and doing well. My clarity is as well so clear today.
I hope your SIL is working on nutrition as well, as it has really saved my life and helped me more than I can every express. I wish her well.

Due to my daughters BF being pescatarian, ovo, lacto vegetarian.
A lot of our diet has modified over the years to suit him when they visit.
Because there are a wide range of foodstuffs covered by this diet, it has been an easy transition.
Welcome to the team.

I too, am working on maintenance and I love my plant based diet. I try to eat clean, but it is not perfected in anyway. We can do this and sparkpeople is great way to stay on track.

Hello there!

I joined this team as I think as I get closer to maintenance this is more my lifestyle.

I had been following Eat to Live- doing fine but DH not so well. Currently doing a keto fat adapting experiment and that is going pretty well in getting weight off of DH but it will not be for lifetime- I will be bringing back my beloved purple potatoes and sweet potatoes for one thing...among other things.

The experiment is interesting for me as I go out for long 18+-30 mile bike rides and long walks- 8-12 milers sometimes and wanted to play with bonk factors

We are near empty nesters. 4 kids- much of the time I home schooled. All doing well. One has room that they come back to- And also a DS youngest- too but is in College and may or may not be back next Summer.
I am decluttering for most of my days lately but hope to carve out some time to sketch with color pencils and to write.

I am 55 and tried to be vegetarian years ago- when I was 16 and living with parents. Did not work so well. Dabbled with it again and then went vegan. Have numerous cookbooks.
Vegan and now a couple of Keto! I like extremes I guess but see myself 80/20- mostly vegan- plant based.
Way back had read about Nathan Pritikin and have read Esselstyn BUT for me no or low fat does not work. I just seek more vegan forms of fat- and have found them in hemp seeds/nut milks that I make. I have a nut milk bag and I am not afraid to use it! lol

I have about 20-23 pounds to lose for maintenance. I am using keto to get to it but am looking forward to settling back into a mostly plant based WOE. As my eldest said- does not matter if you are thin and healthy if you don't have a planet to be healthy on!
Plant based is much more sustainable - in many ways!
Peace! Plants!
