Essentially,
1 of the healthiest diets that a person can be on is vegetarian.
There lies in, only any difficulty with getting a full range of amino acids and all required vitamins, plus the perceived acceptability of the vegetarian diet overall.
This is why the Dash diet was developed, whilst having a strong emphasis on fruit and veges, it also includes small amounts of meat,, fish and dairy to increase the overall acceptability of the diet.
Here is a link that you can refer to all diets listed down the left-hand side.

Answer to what?
Why do you do Flex as opposed, or on the way, to vegetarian/vegan?
I'm doing it to give myself some leeway, trying to go vegetarian in a way that's compassionate to me. I have done vegetarian before, but found it hard to stick to.
I do it mostly for health and spiritual reasons because I struggle with the notion that any amount of people eating however fewer meat meals can make a significant contribution to the recovery of resources.
What's your "beef?"
;)

Thank you all for your welcomes and encouragement. At the end of week 1, I am quite happy with this eating program! I find I have much energy and, strangely enough, I'm never hungry......

emoticon It's great to have you on the team!

I also am dealing with health issues and the struggle for ethical eating. It's a work-in-progress.

Welcome to the 'sensible' way to enjoy your food and be healthy.
Indeed it could very well be the answer you are looking for.
No shame, no blame.. Just common sense and plenty of support here.

Good Sunday Morning, All!
Will skip most information about myself as it can be found on my Sparkpage and keep this to the topic at hand..."flexitarianism." Very excited about this way of eating as it makes sense to me. Have tried vegetarianism 3 times with excellent nutritional advice/guidelines and each time developed anemia....physicians have suggested that my particular make-up requires that I obtain iron from meat. However, for both health and ethical reasons, I'd like to keep my consumption of meat at a minimum, hence flexitarianism/semi-vegetarianism. Thank you for this group.....I look forward to learning about and from all of you!
