Yes, having so many animals does seem like a zoo from time to time and we do have to think twice before we take them anywhere or go anywhere ourselves, but we can't imagine life without them all of our dogs. They are all good girls with distinct personalities and know what is expected of them. For instance, in the mornings when I leave for work, I tell them to go to their house and they all just run into their kennels and wait for their treats. We work nearby so they are rarely left in there for too long without a break.

We'd like to get out of the cat business, but we've had them since they were kittens and the dogs like them too.

Janis

Thank you all for such a warm welcome! Debra - picking a cat over a Westie is unthinkable for me! Their loss is my gain. We tried to adopt from a formalized Westie rescue but they wouldn't adopt to us because I was under 25 (my husband was 27 at the time). Now Mack has his own doggie health insurance policy and probably eats better than either of his "parents!"

Janis - it sounds like you have a mini zoo at your house emoticon I don't know how you keep up with so many furbabies, Mack runs circles around me as it is hehe. Congrats on your daughter's up coming wedding, that is very exciting. While we aren't planning on moving any time soon, thanks for mentioning the job opening. It is very scary to take on so much debt in student loans for grad school but it is so comforting to know that there will be jobs available once I get out. It just seems like it will never be over!

Have a good night, ladies.

Welcome to the Team, Jessi & Mack!

I am Janis and I live in northcentral Montana with my husband, two unrelated Westies--Lucy (from Missouri)& Maggie (from a pet shop in Great Falls), two half-sister Miniature Australian Shepherds (from a working cattle ranch in southeastern Montana), Zelda and Annie Oakley, as well as two cats, Bert & Stella.

As a side note, if you are looking to move to a beautiful part of the country, my husband is looking to recruit a speech pathologist for the local hospital.

Since joining SparkPeople in March I have lost 22 pounds. My inspiration is my daughter's wedding which will take place just outside of Glacier National Park on August 15. She is also a SparkPeople member and is a teacher in a small coastal town in Washington State.

You will find this team to be almost family. We support and take care of each other. We make each other laugh and feel better. We challenge each other. We share dog, cat, ferret, snake and spider stories.

This team is like family to me, so Welcome to the Family!

Hello! My name is Jessi and I'm 22. We rescued our son, "Mack", almost two years ago. We are his fourth home! Poor Mack got dealt a really poor hand in life and was stuck with owner after owner who didn't have time for him or picked cats over him (he *HATES* cats). He is our first Westie and we just love him to death. He is our pride and joy; the bright spot in our day. He is currently very mad at me for putting on his tick/flea treatment and is running around the house spazing out. I feel guilty lol.

So now that you know about my sweetie pie Mack I guess I should tell you about myself. I'm a new-ish bride, we were married 9/19. We just bought our first home in the middle of May. I'm a full time student studying speech pathology & audiology and I graduate in my with my undergrad degree. Next summer/fall I will begin my graduate studies so I'm currently getting ready to take the GRE. I also help my parents out with their business on top of it all! This doesn't leave me much time for myself so that's how I got to weight as much as I did.

In 2007 I hit my highest weight, 230lbs. After a lot of hard work and several years I have gotten down to 175lbs. To this day I can hardly believe I have lost over 50lbs and I credit breaking through my year long stand still in the 180's to becoming vegan in 11/09. My goal is to weigh 150lbs by the beginning of 2011.

I look forward to getting to know you all!
Hugs emoticon (from Jessi) & Doggie Kisses emoticon (from Mack)
