Eat Complex Carbs! I hate to cook so I'll cook up a week's worth of brown rice on Sunday. Mornings it's oatbran. I can't eat anything with gluten which makes things interesting. I just found out that pumpkin seeds (1/4 cup) doesn't seem to spike my sugar levels, so I snack on that instead of nuts, chips etc. Still have my binging problems some evenings. Have noticed that if I have a hot meal (usually low cal/low fat frozen dinner that way I have portion control) that I can avoid the binges. Hot soup seems to satisfy as well as long as it's not a creamy type. Bean dishes are good. Let us know how you do. four11

I am trying to learn all I can about what to eat and what not to eat. I know cut out sweets which is pretty easy for me to do. I also have figured out that I need to cut back on carbs but hate this like the devil cause I really like carbs, however, for the past two weeks I have been cutting back on them (with a few tears along the way). I am getting some mixed information on websites and even went with a friend yesterday when she went to a dietiation and got mixed info there so what do you do that works for you? Gloria

Do you have a diatician on your health team? If not, then check the library. Lots of excellent books there. Check your local hospitals to see if they have any free diabetic clinics. Or get your doctor to refer you to one.

Don't forget the excercising. It's taken me ages to realize that if you miss this 1/3 of the treatment I'm not going to get my sugars under control! Hang in there!

Hi, my name is Gloria, I just joined the team cause I just had my annual physical and my doctor said that by blood sugar is to high. My Dad was diabetic so I don't want to follow in his foot steps in this. I have to go back in a month and am so confused over what I am reading on what to eat and what not to eat. Can anyone guide me?

Night time is my bad time as well so you're not alone. One book I read suggests a glass of milk. Had the protien and the fluid helps to fill up the stomach. I'll have to try it and see if it helps.

Diabetic for 13 yrs and have been on pills until last week. Had to add 24 units of insulin at night to get my fasting sugar down. Been using the food dieary and it's helping. Blood sugar is down to around 120 to 110 in am. Blew it friday nite though, after weighing everything then gave into hungar pangs and ate bologna, ham and provolone cheese. Found my sugars went to 133 for fasting this morning. Any suggestions on what to eat at night to satisfy the cravings? Nighttime is the most dificult for me. Any help would be appreciated.

After quitting smoking for seven months, I gained 40 lbs, thus the weight and out of control eating got me to insulin. The doc says that if I level my fasting to 110 to 100 in the am, then I can come off the insulin. I hope so...
