Hi Marnie, I'm Becky. As I was reading your post I was shaking my head in agreement, you and I are a lot alike! I was in denial about my diabetes for a long time but after a friend had a heart attack I realized I couldn't hide from it any more.

I was worried about missing bread. I found Ezekial bread to be the perfect substitute, it's in the freezer in the "healthy" part at many stores. I switched from regular potatoes to sweet potatoes and from white rice to brown.

Hi, My name is Marnie and I just got plugged into this site yesterday. I need to lose about 50lbs and am diabetic. I was diagnosed a year ago, but have been in denial about it...stupid huh? So now I'm trying to do things healthier. I have 2 kids: Sarah 17 and Brian 11. I want to teach them to eat better before they are up and gone so they don't end up like I did. The hardest part of this will be cutting out carbs and doing the exercise!! Looking forward to meeting you guys!
