Great numbers for you too. I wouldn't worry about going from a 5.8 to a 6.2 as so many things can affect blood sugar. It's not just what we eat and how much we exercise. Besides, a 6.2 is fntastic. Stay in that neighborhood and you'll be whupping up on that diabeties! Keep on keepingon...Al

Al that is great news on getting the numbers down! I was at 181 total cholesterol last time (March) and A1C was 6.2 (which was up from 5.8 last August) I think I slacked off during the Holidays and am back on track. At least my daily numbers are coming back down again! Doc wanted to change my cholesterol meds but I don't see why! I will have a long discussion with her when I see her next! It is frustrating because they only see me as I am when I am in the office.

Congrats on surviving the cancer and still having the will to work on your diabetes and health. You are to be commended for not letting all of your health situations cause you to give up. I agree with the struggle to get the weight off, it's a lot of work and you have to be happy and satisfied with the little victories. A lot of folks cave in with just 1 major problem, but you've hung in there! I caved in after about the 5th situation in a row and the PTSD of open heart surgery caught up with me. But I refocused and got busy. My last A1c was 6.0 and my total cholesterol is below 200 for the first time in decades. Welcome and good luck on your journey. You'll find lots of friends here! Hello everyone! My name is Valerie, I am 50 years young and was diagnosed diabetic in April 2006. I weighed 279 (more before that though) and my A1C was 12.4 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov. 2006 and went through surgery, chemo and radiation in 2007. It has been a struggle to get more weight off and my A1C down but I have been doing it--slow but doing it! My last A1C was 6.2 last August I had it down to 5.8 though. I think the Hoildays did me in a bit. I am not giving up on it though!! I started eating healthier last May and exercising more regularly. This looks like a great group! I ahve been in diabetic groups on other sites and they were not as positive as this one seems to be. emoticon
