The training was mostly for myself, and so I could have access to the new rounds as Beachbody releases them. I might do some Hustle and Turbokick classes here at school, because we have a workplace wellness program and get "points" for fitness activities, and some of my coworkers have asked if I would do it.

so good to hear from you!!!!! :)

wow! teacher training sounds like real fun! planning to lead classes at the gym?

for me, i have to keep up with programs so i know what i should be doing every day, otherwise, going to the basement, looking at all those programs, trying to decide, will confuse me big time! emoticon

Wow, sounds like you've really been keeping at it.

I did Hip Hop Hustle teacher training last month, but have not been doing any programs lately. I am working out, though!

I had a Groupon or Livingsocial deal to a new boxing gym not too far from home a while ago, but the opening was postponed, and in the intervening time my schedule changed so it wasn't convenient anymore. Now that I won't be working 7 days, though, I can put the paid value toward classes or anything else of my choice there. They do have lots of great deals on those flash sale sites, but most of them around here are for kickboxing, not "regular" boxing. I do read all the emails, though, and am always keeping an eye out.

they are going great! :) on week 5 of P90X, really enjoying the workouts. I have not had any weight loss and i have not taken measurments, but enjoying the workouts, because of how they make me feel.
for the very first time, i have this great sense of balance and well being, because of the yoga and stretch componenets of P90X. I'm starting to really love this program. :)

so good to hear from you and so glad you had a real good time on vacation.

i like all those programs, but if it was me, making the choice, I would pick insanity, then rushfit and then combat. it's just the after workouts high from insanity is like non other. i did rushfit and i did combat and enjoyed it too but non compared to insanity. i mean rushfit is well rounded and includes all aspect of fitness, combat has wonderful music but not enough cluing of what to do and when to move on to the next workout but insanity, he yells and screams and make you do as you supposed to. lol
i tried a few of Focus T25. it's good, makes you sweat like crazy, and it's only 25 minutes long. i'm not sure if the length of the workout will be satisfying for me, as a primary program tho.
currently, i'm doing P90X. on my fourth week. this is also another well rounded program. it's got weight, cardio (not crazy cardio like insanity), yoga and stretches. i am loving this workout for now and i think it will be my go back to program in future. well, that's what i think at this point tho. :)

Thank you for asking -- it was wonderful!

I'm taking this week to decompress and sort out a bunch of craziness in my professional life that has come up unexpectedly, so I haven't moved on to a new program yet. I'm thinking either Insanity, Combat, or Rushfit. I really want to do Focus T25, but we aren't spending extra money this month, so it will have to wait. (I can redeem points from our workplace wellness program for Amazon $$$, so any of the older three DVD sets are OK for me to "buy.")

you go girl!!!! :)
Today i had Burn it off on my workout calender, that workout is becoming boring, so i changed it with Rushfit Explosive Power Training, MAN!!!!!! i really enjoyed it! and also i did try Abdominal strength and core conditioning on Tuesday night, my core is still sore and usually no workout makes me feel my core, so i guess somehow this seems to be working for me. I have done three of his DVD's so far and his core one is my absolute ab workout favorite. :)
almost done with third week of Lean phase, i have commited to start combat/ pump hybrid with a BB challenge group, but now i'm thinking maybe i should just do rushfit instead.

True! you are experienced and know what you are doing. i was just concerned that i recomandanded a program, even tho science and safety does not support it. But i did seriously enjoy the feeling of accompolishments, the unbeleivable HIGH and the leaning effect of insanity. i'm sure you will do too and i love to hear from you about your experience once you start the program. week one is the toughest since your body is not used to the moves but it does get easier as you go on.

"Danger" is relative. I think for new exercisers, something like Insanity that is very dynamic and intense -could- be risky, since doing it safely and effectively depends on your ability to self-monitor form and technique. But I'm not worried about getting hurt when I take the program up. Thanks for the info!

i was just reading an article comparing Rushfit, Tapout, Insanity and P90x. seems my previous comment about Rushfir was totally wrong! it was rated real high! emoticon and Insanity, my favourite workout was rated dangerous and unscientific! emoticon
please do not take my words, advertising Insanity, research it before you commit to it. i don't wanna see you hurt. i know i might go back to it eventually, but it will be a while later, when i might have forgotten some of these reviews.

modifying is not my style, i may slow down to learn the move, but pause, go back and repeat. no point in cheating myself. lol

hope the allergies go away fast, they make u really suffer, if nothing else, the sneezing is big annoyance on its own!
anyway, maybe you can mix and match the workouts and maybe throw in some insanity to familiarize yourself with the workouts without following the schedule, until after you are back?
hope you have a fascinating time on that trip, do your best to enjoy it.
I had a weekend getaway, and it was just amazing, a big part of fun was that i don't workout on the weekends and my program was not interrupted by it either, perfect for me. LOL
oh and i can not wait until u start the insanity and find out how u feel about it, insanity's after the workouts high is honestly like no other!
i did Tapout Plyo XT instead of burn it off workout. since i was learning the moves, i think i gave it 60% effort at most and still manged to become sooooo sore and burn 740 calories. :)

Good for you for pushing yourself to really get the most out of your workouts. It would be so easy to go lighter on the weights or modify down, but you are obviously not doing that -- you are working your butt off!

I'm having an easy week (good, because my allergies are out of control and I've been feeling pretty fuzzy), trying to decide what to do next. We have a trip planned for the end of July, so I want to pick something that I won't interrupt by going out of town. I'll probably just do my own thing until we get back, then try Insanity starting in August.

funny, how would you think we assume you were a good for nothing lay about? nothing about you indicates that attitude, :)

this Lean Phase is kicking my butt big time, had to give up my secondary program, since i was real spent after lean phase workouts, and i never knew weight lifting burn as much calories either! burned 458 calories, doing lean circuit 2.

I hate the idea of getting up before 10, so your wanting to sleep past 5 is NOT lazy! (And, no, in case you are wondering, I'm not a good-for-nothing lay-about: I work afternoons and evenings, sometimes as late as 11pm, lol.)

Half an hour of TurboFire is worth an hour of some other workouts -- you should not feel bad about getting your butt kicked by it, either. And don't fear the 45+ ones. Yes, you will have some Fire Drills and challenging Kicks sections, but they are not as in-your-face intense out of the gate as 30 is.

ok I just did turbofire : fire starter, I'm drenched. what a workout. I dread the more timely workouts if the 30 min one kicks my rear this much. LOL sorry I've been out of touch lately. Too much on my plate with Bible school after work several days this week. It's so easy to get off track. I am doing a BB challenge starting Monday and trying to get started early. I have done exercise 8 out of the last 9 days. missed yesterday because I was too lazy/tired to get up at 5am before work to exercise : ( I don't like it when I do that.

Not much. The workouts are a little longer, and you go back to compound exercises like in Burn. More use of the toning band than in the other phases.

body beast is the absolute muscle building workout, and because i'm short, that much muscle won't look good on me, so that's why i don't have it on my list, and i read the reviews about RushFit and Tapout and how they compare, seems Tapout is covering all the bases of Rushfit and more,
Actually the reviews were putting Tapout ahead of P90x too, so that makes me want to do Tapout before P90x as well but i'm still deciding on the order.
I will be getting into the Lean Phase on Monday, any tips or tricks i need to know before starting the phase?

welcome, glad i could be of any help. :)
i have not done any of the asylum series yet, they do look too advanced, once done with my programs that i have lined up, i think i will go that route. start with insanity and then work my way to asylum one and then asylum 2.
there are so many workout programs out there, i don't know if i ever get enough time to try them all, but p90x, asylum series and tapout and also tai chi are high on my list. :)

Can you believe how hungry you get? Even if Chalene didn't stress the importance of eating frequent small meals, I don't think anyone would be able to make it through the day without eating like that.

Thanks for the info. I'm totally sold on Insanity now. Have you done Asylum 1 or 2? I've seen some good deals on a bundle of both on eBay recently.

you were great, great information and totally made sense too. thanks again. :)

since i have not been giving combat my all, i will be doing combat ultimate warrior workout on it's own, they got a very interesting schedule covering upper/ lower body and core exercises, the only thing i will be adding, will be the strength exercises from CLX, so 3 strength training days a week will be all i add in.
after that i plan to do p90x. i have heard great stories about it, and want to challenge myself to complete that as well.
as for Insanity, you will love it! it may take you a week to get used to the moves and workouts, but you will be enjoying it so much! when you do give it a try, i want to hear how you enjoy it. :)

I did Burn Intervals and extreme Abs today and i feel totally exhausted! and hungry! had to gulp down a big sandwitch since the lunch i packed for myself would not have been nearly enough to take care of this massive appetite today, my oh my!!!!

Do you know what you will do once you're done with Combat and CLX? I've been considering Insanity: any tips or warnings for me?

thank you so much for the answer! and it does make a lot of sense. i have been talking to some diamond level coaches at BB and some others and none of them had any answer as good and logical as yours. they were blaming it on the age difference between when i did insanity and now doing CLX, even tho i already told them it wa only early April when i completed Insanity!
again, i do really appreciate the answer. :)

I think it's because if you are really lifting as heavy as you should be, the cardio days double as muscular recovery days. To add to that, Burn Ints and BiO both involve a good amount of plyo HIIT, so you are conditioning efficiently. The benefit to that is that you don't have to spend a lot of time to improve cardiovascularly, but the downside is that if you are trying to burn a lot of calories, that isn't really what's happening. So, maybe that's why your head says you need more, but your body says you don't have more to give -- at least at the level of intensity something like Combat requires. I can really identify with having those days when you've done your scheduled workouts but feel like you didn't put in adequate time, even if you have accomplished the program objective. I do light but extended cardio like a low-impact dance video, a bike ride, or a hike; or a nice long yoga session just to get a little more movement into my day, but without being too physically demanding.

Thank you, still doing the Combat on my strength training days, those i can not let go off, but i'm not planning to add on the her cardio CLX's cardio days anymore :)
ok, u r becoming my CLX guru, i used to add more cardios on Burn Intrevals and Extreme Abs and also Burn it off and recharge days, but now, those on their own get me all worked up and spent. i am confused what the reason might be, i have been asking around but everyone seems to feel as i do, any idea?

I do agree, when doubling the program, there are days my endurance cardios fall on the same day and that makes it really harsh on my body!
the point was to add in some cardio on my CLX strength training days to complement CLX but Combat was so addictive i could not leave it and instead i doubled! not the best idea and i am going to slow down and just do Combat Ultimate Warrior program on its own after completing my CLX but adding in the Strength training from CLX 3 times a week and see how that works.:)
today i did Push Circuit 3, Combat HIIT 1 Power but still got squats and plank challenge to do.

I can see why you're starting to feel burned out: it's a lot of demanding, intense exercise. Just thinking about doing two hours of high-impact cardio is exhausting. But I can totally relate, too, because I constantly have to hold myself back from trying to do everything that sounds fun and interesting all at once.

I think doing more than one program or challenge at the same time works best when they are different types of exercise: for instance, a yoga challenge on top of Insanity, or a lifting series like CLX in addition to a C25K. Otherwise, you don't really give yourself the chance to get the most out of everything you're doing, because it is a struggle just to get through it all. If you double- or triple-up and there's a lot of crossover of things like HIITs, heavy weights, and endurance cardio, that's when following a hybrid plan (or creating your own) will make the load more manageable, and help you maximize your results.

I thought that's what it was, but just wanted to make sure. :)

I did Burn it Off and 10 minutes of Turbo Jam's fat blaster workout, still got Combat 45, and squats and plank challenges to do, i feel as if i'm exhausting myself. i'm dragging my feet behind me these days, not sure if it's just a bad week or is it too much working out. ahhhh, happy medium where are you? lol

BI? i usually try not to do anything low impact, but lately after the burn interval and extreme abs, i'm so spent, i have to leave the HIIT for the evening, to get the full benefit of it.

Today, i did Push Circuit 2 and Les Mills Combat 30: kick Start.
was second strength training after installing the mirrors in the basement and goodness, i must say it's a totally new game when u can see and correct your form when doing the lifting. I can not lift as heavy or as many reps as i used to do, now that i'm paying more attention to form. and now i know why my triceps were not responding to workouts. ;o

When you do a HIIT workout on the same day as Burn Intervals, do you do the plyo in BI, or the low-impact mods?

Lean 1, mid-length (~45 minute) cardio, and yoga today.

well, that was the point. u r living an active lifestyle and r fit. i wanted to know at what point u stop counting calories and start trusting ur judgement. I am becoming sick of logging food, even tho i still got a few lb to loose. i think i will also stop logging food and see how it goes. thank you for your reply. :)

No, I haven't logged my food in quite some time. It never really helped me accomplish anything other than becoming obsessed about whether I was tracking everything perfectly. I also don't measure the majority of what I eat, so between these two things, I'm probably a terrible person to look to for that kind of guidance.

Nice work RHEYNKLAW,
a question for you, do you still log in your food or pass that level already? i'm planning to drop my BF% to 20% and for that i need to lose another 9 lbs. don't have to, but just an experiment and not with a due date, still watching what i eat but i feel tired of logging the food!

Starting spark solution plans today. I may have been trying to do too much in one day and wearing myself out in the process. I will do at least 20 minutes of TF video. Maybe more. Grocery shopping today to prep for the meal plan/lifestyle change. I pray I can succeed this time. I have restarted to many times. I am tired of failing.

Power HIIT is a mix of light weight/ high rep weight training combined with martial arts and a very high energy music. i swear it's so much fun, makes me feel guilty to count it as workout even tho it does make me feel sore afterwards! lol

Congrats on finishing Burn. I just did Push 3 for the last time yesterday, so it's on to Lean for me.

Easy day today: Stretch 40, and went for an hour long walk on an unanticipated (client cancellation) break at work. It was nice to get some sun!

Way to get your workouts in, ladies!

Yesterday I did Push 2 for the last time (this round, at least), as well as Fire 30, Ab Burner, and Stretch 10. Today will be Fire 55 EZ and Recharge.

There are just some kids who are good at video games, no matter what kind, I guess. Your son must be one of them!

i know!!!! interesting that i do workout with Zumba at times too, so it's just kinda making me wonder if i'm doing all the moves wrong? but then how could he be doing it right when he has never even made an effort in dancing! totally strange!

That is pretty funny. It reminds me of playing Wii bowling with my husband's friends. They all just sit there and flick their wrists, and get strikes all over the place, but I'm standing up, trying to pretend like I'm actually bowling, and I get terrible scores. To be fair, I hate and am terrible at actual bowling, too, but I still think it's a good example of how you can be completely sedentary and have success at the "active" games.

Funny story, i got Zumba for wii as well. so, me an exreciser whos is reasonably in shape trying the Zumba wii, never advanced a level to go to the next. On the other hand my son, who does not work out and definately is not into dance at all, goes thru the levels with no problem at all. how strange does that sound? lol

I have Exhilarate, too, as well as the original set (although I have lost most of the DVDs and now only know where the Advanced disc is.) I don't have the middle set, Zumba Fitness, which is probably the one more people are familiar with, but I have done most of the workouts from it (borrowed from a friend.)

Yesterday I did Burn Intervals and Rockin' Body Disco Party.

Thank you, RN. I am close, but I can still feel myself guarding in rotation, so I'm going to give it a few more days before Turbo and heavy lifting.

Congrats on your 5K -- well done!

Do you go to Zumba class or use videos? If the latter, which set(s) do you have?

ok, I am starting over with the TF and CE schedules again since I missed so many days I made a mess out of it. I walked my 2nd 5k race yesterday and am so sore. It rained pretty much the whole time, I need a poncho for sure for next time. I am doing TF fire 30 and stretch 10, CE burn phase 1 today, following the schedules and am planning to Zumba on rest days. How are you?

I did the super old Zumba Advanced DVD. It's funny how poor the production values from the original videos are (and how virtually non-existent the cueing is.)

Yup, it's my turn...to fall behind on my program.

I popped a low rib out of alignment yesterday or the day before, and was in pretty bad pain all afternoon and evening (thank goodness I had already gotten my workout in!) Spent some time on the foam roller before bed, and it relieved most of the problem, but when I got up this morning I was still very sore and stiff. Ice, then heat, then more rolling, and off to work, and luckily I had a break in my schedule to get adjusted.

I feel almost completely better now (just a little residual soreness, but not more excruciating pain with rotation or forward flexion), but I really shouldn't lift as heavy as I need to for CLX until I am really back to normal. So, I'm limiting myself to low-impact, no weights in bent-over stance, and rotation only if it's super slow (e.g. Pilates, yoga.) It will only be a few days, and I won't just be sitting around doing nothing, but I know I will be glad when I'm recovered and on schedule again.

Hello and welcome back!
hope you feel all better soon, listen to your body, don't push yourself until you are feeling better to do the exercises, but good work on doing the turbo fire! :)
ok, i was supposed to do Insanity for my cardio today, but could not get out of the bed, due to sleeping too late last night! :(
i will make up for it on Saturday, will do Insanity Max Interval Cardio as a substitue cardio for burn it off and recharge. :)

Ok my new friend/workout buddy, wildflower,I had forgotten if we were on Turbofire or Chalean extreme team together, I am sorry I was sick today. I was dizzy before even getting out of bed, but tried to work anyway. I have a severe urinary tract infection and had to leave work after 2 hrs, see my dr and get a shot and antibiotic pills today. I came home from work and got some sleep, hopefully I will be up to par in the morning. I did do Core 20 from turbofire yesterday. Nothing today, not feeling well. Planning fire starter for 5am tomorrow. and burn phase 3 from CE for afternoon. Thanks for your encouragement. I will do better.

Great job on that workout!

I have TurboFire Fire 55 EZ (haha, "easy"...yeah, right!) and a stretch on the menu for today. I normally exercise in the morning but had some other obligations this morning, so I will do it after dinner tonight.
