Welcome to the team!

I take Ethromycin (not sure of the spelling) for my GP. Please be careful with the Reglen, I have heard it can have some bad side effects. When I first started going to my GI doctor in 2010, he said his practice quit prescribing Reglen years ago because of the side effects.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, I am now in hospice care for metastatic breast cancer, but I'm not letting cancer stop me from Sparking!

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

Welcome to the team. My first suggestion to you is get a different GI doctor, someone who knows about GP (when you call for an appointment specifically ask for a doctor who has treated patients with gastroparesis before). Reglan is a potentially dangerous drug that needs to be monitored by a GI doctor who knows what it should be doing and what the serious side effects are. Also, what tests did they perform to diagnose you? If they didn't do a gastric emptying study (GES), request that one be done. This is the main diagnostic tool for GP and the results will help guide the treatments. Also, there are several other conditions that have similar symptoms to GP and the GES can help ensure that it is GP not something else.

In the mean time, yes a bland diet is a good option, but the #1 thing is to eat low fat and low fiber. There is a lot of information on our team that might help, but if you have any specific questions, let us know and we'll do our best to help guide you.

I was in to see my GO Dr on Friday and she eliminated me from using the medications for GP because they tend to raise anxiety. I have PTSD and so we will be using diet to control my symptoms.

I've been having gi issues on an off for years but was officially diagnosed with gp when I was in the hospital two months ago.
The gi doc said "eat a bland diet" and dismissed me with a script for reglan. Problem is it triggers my panic attacks. My primary doc and shrink have been of more help than the gi was. We're playing around with the reglan levels to see the how little it will take to keep things moving. We don't quite know why this happened.
I'm just happy I found this forum.
