Hi everyone. Dr thinks my gp was due to childhood trauma and exasperated by 5 surgeries in 2008. The gp was diagnosed in 2010. Right now the only struggle is the weight. It's hard to explain gp to ppl without it, at least, I feel it is.

HI GUYS CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN I DIAGNOSIS BUT IT PUT ME IN THE HOSPITAL . IT HAS COST ME A JOB WHICH WAS A BLESSING I WAS ABLE TO DRAW UNEMPLOYMENT AND ABLE TO TAKE BETTER CARE OF MYSELF. IF I WAS BLOATED I'D TAKE SOME GAS EX AND LAY DOWN . THE VOMITING WOULD COME ON SUDDEN DIDN'T ALWAYS MAKE IT TO THE BATHROOM MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND WOULD CLEAN UP THE MESS. I SOON FOUND OUT IF I WOULD EAT AFTER I COULD EAT AND BE OK. NOW I CAN EAT MOST FOODS IF THEY DON'T SET WELL I SOMETIMES I DON'T EAT FOR 24 HR. SO FAR MY BLOOD SUGARS HAVE DONE OK ( I'M ALSO A DIABETIC)

Hi, I'm glad I found this group as well. Finding people who share the same problems is great. Many people just don't understand what gp is.. I was diagnosed in 2010 and in 2011 was in an accident and messed up my left shoulder bad so it's been limited exercise. Have a great day everyone and looking forward to being part of this group.

Hi & welcome!
I hear you and totally know where you're coming from! I'm in the same situation.
Take it 1 day at a time and develop a list of what sits well for you and what doesn not work w/ the gp- make the best decision possible. We're all learning to deal with a "new normal".
I'm having an extremly difficult time as I am vegetarian as well...sounds like a cruel joke, 'eh? a vegetarian w/ gp......
one day and a time & treasure the good days!
best of luck on your journey! :)

Welcome both of you to the team!
I was diagnosed in December.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, I am now in hospice care for metastatic breast cancer, but I'm not letting cancer stop me from Sparking!

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

Hi Jojo! I'm new to gastroparesis and I'm in the same boat as you. It's tough! I've managed to determine that I can't eat lettuce either (and I LOVED huge salads for lunch). A friend in this team suggested eating tomato and cucumber salads instead, and that's working for me so it might work for you too. And another suggestion I'll pass on to you is to not cut out the "bad" things that don't upset your digestion; just scale down to one serving and keep your calories within your daily calorie limit. Exercise also helps me alot. I feel that my digestion is better when I'm working out even though some days it feels impossible to get in the gym. I hope this helps. Best wishes and welcome!

I am so excited to find this team. I never dreamed I would find a team for gp on a weight loss/manage ment site..So far most of the communication with others with gp have been with those who can't gain weight not those who need to lose it. I have been so frustrated in the past week with the whole weight loss deal.. I can't eat the things that you are "supposed " to eat to lose weight and no one seems to get it. Now finally some people that just might understand. I have read thru some of the posts and see there really are people out there like me that just cant eat lettuce or high fiber foods..whose best friendsome days is a sugar cookie or ritz cracker cuz its the only thing they can digest. I lived off juicy juice and vanilla wafers for 6 months 2 years ago, anything else made me writh in pain. The good news was I did lose a lot of weight but of course gained it all back 3 pounds for every one I had lost as soon as my gp was diagnosed and I got "permission" from my gastro guy to stop trying to eat fiber and all the other normal good for you food. Now however I am in the conundrum of trying to lose weight and stay relatively pain free and its not working. I tried following the diet dr recommendations to try to eat lots of veggies and fiber and ended up in the hospital, can't go the starvation route again, and am totally frustrated. Do I stay tummy trouble free and fat or what? Help!!
