I'm Jen, and I'm new to this group. I was so happy to have found this group, and look forward to being part of it. I was diagnosed as having severe gastroparesis after having been admitted to the hospital with abdominal pain in mid February. I was lucky in that the ER doctor caved to my whining and decided to consult with the GI doctor who was at the hospital just then. He had wanted to send me home, not really fully believing how severe my pain was. My GI doc is awesome, and first did an endoscopy, and then did a gastric emptying study, and noted the gastroparesis. Looking back on things, I can see how this has been a problem for a long time. At the first of the year, my husband and I had decided to get in shape and lose weight, and I had joined SP, and our diet of healthy salads, high fiber foods, and so-on had horribly exacerbated the gastroparesis to the point leading to the hospitalization in mid February.

And so here I am now.... kind of at a loss as to how to balance losing weight, getting the proper nutrition, avoiding abdominal pain and nausea, and finding foods that I can tolerate that are not high calorie foods bad for my body. I've already learned a lot about managing this disorder and hopefully I can continue to learn from all of you!
