Paper pieces can't be any worse than mine, my tables are covered in it, and i have SEVERAL tote bags with sorters of course, that are nothing but paper. I am currently working on a scrapbook for my niece that got married 6 days ago, and i am having a BLAST!!!
Veggies are tough, i have learned to like you, almost wilt anything before i can eat it. I have learned to do potatoes, mashed, very little, but then you face the carb monster. CORN is a NO-NO!! I miss my garlic buttered grilled corn!!

Hope you are having a blessed week. Enjoy your weekend.

Eileen,
It's one of my addictions, too. Scrapbooking helps me relax, especially since I mostly do it at a girls night out thing at our church once a month. Can't wait til I get my work table set up at home. I'm a paper-piecer and I'm behind on photos....ugh!

I also live on a farm and have a small garden. Now I'm looking at all the yummy veggies and thinking of how I can skin some and cook 'em. I had Wilted Lettuce the other day and did pretty well with it.

Oooh!! I see you are a scrapbooker!! Welcome to my addiction!! lol lol.. I wish i could make a living doing it like everyone else, but love doing my own stuff, so really wouldn't have time.. lol lol...

The hardest thing for me to give up was the raw veggies and fruits, i am WAY ADDICTED to them. I have a friend that has a farm, and every year would bring me some of everything and i miss the blueberries, the corn, everything. I agree with you, you do not want to be a guinea pig, and from someone that has taken it, don't do reglan!! Good luck!!

Thanks, Eileen and Lucky! Yeah, the doc mentioned Reglan and said since it was basically blacklisted for all the lawsuits, if I signed a paper with the chemical company I could try it. There's another one that's in clinical trials here at a local University Hospital...but I don't want to be a guinea pig...too much disasters in the last 2 years to last a lifetime.

I may switch to Boost or Ensure. I am currently doing the High Protein Slim Fast and still making my own smoothies with my protein powder. I'm also about to order some Syntax Nectar...it's a protein powder you put in water and comes in like 4 flavors, I've tried two and liked it. I think that will replace my Crystal Light.

The hardest thing for me to get used to right now, is the no raw veggies or raw fruit. It's messing with my head (everything I know of weight loss) and I love my salads and german cole slaw. I even made the mistake the other night of having a few bites of Guacamole while scrapbooking....won't do that again.

I'll work myself away from chocolate...ummm.....really. That one might be even harder than the salads even though I don't really do much of it, the idea of none scares me. : )

Take care!!

Hi Beckie,
WELCOME to our little family. I hope that we can be of assistance to you in every way possible. I have had GP now for about 2 years and i am still fighting what i can and can't keep down. Like Lucky said, it is different for everyone, but we will be here to support you. I too have found that on days my GP is getting the better of me, i stick to liquids as well. That prevents me from being SO nauseous. That is the one thing that i have the hardest time with in all this is the nausea. I too have tried EES. Not working any longer. CAN NOT take Reglan, had a life threatening reaction to it the first time i tried it, docs thought i was gonna die!!!!
No raw veggies, no raw fruits. I can not do caffeine in any form, no tea, no chocolate, no nothing.. and man i miss it!!!
I usually do small amounts of bland, soft foods, and lots of bread, which i know is a no no when you are trying to lose weight, but some days it is all i can keep down. Stay hydrated.
Good luck, and we are here if you need us!!

Eileen

Hi Beckie and welcome to the team!
You'll find a lot of support here and the team members are great at sharing what we've learned about GP.

As you may know, GP can be different for everyone, but in general, digestion is either slow, impaired, or has ceased altogether, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot the medical field has found to help us.

Most of us eat whatever we've learned we can keep down, and that usually means avoiding fiber and sometimes eating a balanced diet can be difficult or even impossible. Just when you think you know what your limits are, what you can eat changes due to things like stress or the GP continues to gets worse.

I think several of us have tried or been on Erythromycin, and eventually it stops working. Other medications can be dangerous, like Reglan, as it has been known to cause irreversible side effects. You're welcome to check out our collection of articles and see if you learn anything.

You might want to trade in your Slim Fast for either Boost or Ensure (tastes a little bit better!) with a High Protein formula and it will help you get some additional nutrients that can be hard to get with GP. Generally speaking, soft, bland food is usually the easiest to keep down, and of course, staying hydrated is super important.

We look forward to getting to know you and will help however we're able!

Lucky

Life's an adventure ... take it one step at a time and don't underestimate yourself! You're capable of more than you think you are! How do I know this? You're still here aren't you? That means you haven't given up!

Hello! I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago. I have a long history story...but shortened version is I had LapBand done in June '07. It ate through my stomach and was removed Jan. '09. Since then I'd had constant acid reflux that started about 1 1/2 weeks post surgery. I finally gave in and went to have an Upper GI done, worrying about all the acid reflux and esophogial cancer (my hubby's ex-wife developed this from acid reflux so he was concerned).

The Gastro doc came back in apologizing to me. He was really sweet...he didn't do this to me. He put me on Erythromycin (but it doesn't seem to be helping). I've read online various diets and am working on adjusting my good habits (whole grains, fresh veggies/fruits, etc.) into the ones I've read I need to do (no whole grains, raw veggies, no broccoli, etc.).

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I've put myself on a liquid diet this week and am adding in more come Saturday per a website I found. And I've discovered that Slim Fast now has an Easy To Digest brand of Vanilla shakes.
